The Strongest Girls Leave Their Comfort Zones

By

Your comfort zone feels like home. You feel safe there. It’s a place where there isn’t any risk of rejection or heartache or loss. It’s the place where you can relax, where you can let your guard down, where you can take a break from worrying.

You might turn down a date because you would rather stay home alone in your bedroom, inside of your comfort zone.

You might avoid applying for your dream job because you would rather continue working part-time, inside of your comfort zone.

Instead of jumping into a conversation, you might remain quiet in the back of a room, inside of your comfort zone.

Your comfort zone makes you feel untouchable. It makes you feel safe and secure.

Some people keep themselves trapped inside their comfort zones because they are afraid to take a peek out the door, they are afraid to step outside, they are afraid to see what could be waiting for them on the other side.

It’s tempting to remain inside of your comfort zone so that you never get hurt — but your comfort zone is a stagnant place. You are never going to move forward while you are there. You are never going to grow. You are going to remain the same. Your world is never going to change.

If you remain inside of your comfort zone, then you are taking away a million opportunities. Going on that date could have led to a marriage. Applying for that job could have led to a new career path. Entering a conversation could have landed you a group of new friends.

When you remain in your comfort zone, you never know what you could be missing out on. At least if you leave your comfort zone and end up disappointed, you have your answer. You don’t have to question. You don’t have to regret your past because it is filled with what ifs.

Your comfort zone might be safe in the short-term, but in the long-term it is the most dangerous place to be. It could prevent you from fulfilling your dreams, from chasing your passions, from going after the love of your life.

That is why you have to be strong enough to leave. You have to decide that you deserve to see what you are capable of achieving. You need to believe in yourself. You owe it to yourself.

You have to be strong enough to text someone first, even though they might not answer back.

You have to be strong enough to show up at a job interview, even though you might not be the one they hire.

You have to be strong enough to speak your mind, to use your voice, to make sure you are seen.

You have to be strong enough to chase after the things that you want more than anything, because you will never forgive yourself if you let them pass you by.

You are allowed to stay in your comfort zone for as long as you need — but don’t get too comfortable there, because there are some risks worth taking.
