I’m Not Going To Worry About Someone Who Doesn’t Worry About Me

Don’t complain about how we never talk anymore if you haven’t been picking up the phone and texting me either. It’s not my responsibility to contact you. Why am I the one who is supposed to be doing all of the work? If you miss me, you have my number.

But you don’t want to reach out to me. You want me to throw myself all over you. You want me to beg for your attention so you can pick and choose whether you want to give any back. You want to feel like you have some sort of power over me. You miss the days when I would text you three times in a row, desperate for an answer. You want to go back to the times when I liked every single one of your selfies and texted you cute ones of my own.

You aren’t used to my silence, but this is the way it’s going to be from now on. If you cannot bother to pick up the phone and send a text, then I am not going to waste my energy doing the same thing. Our relationship, friendship, flirtatiouship — whatever you want to call it — is supposed to be equal. You are supposed to be giving me what you want to receive in return.

If you think it’s okay to ignore my messages and watch my stories without responding to me, but you get annoyed when I do the same exact thing to you, then you are a hypocrite.

I am done worrying about people who clearly do not care about me. One-sided relationships are too exhausting. They tire me out — and for what? I never get any thanks in return. I never get the respect or appreciation that I deserve. There is no point in chasing after you when you keep running further and further from my reach.

If being ignored by me bothers you that much, then you should take a look at the way you have been treating me and make some serious adjustments, because things are never going back to the way they used to be.

I am not going to ask you whether you are free to hang out every weekend when I know you are going to come up with an excuse to get out of seeing me. I am not going to double text you when I know you are going to leave me waiting three days. I am not going to compete for your attention because the right person would be happy to give it to me without a fight.

I hope you enjoyed my attention while it lasted, because you are never going to experience it again. I am not going to reach out to you anymore. I am not going to send the first text or plan dates or initiate conversations again.

I am not going to stress myself out over someone who thinks so little of me. I am not going to waste my time hoping you will give me some of yours. TC mark
