Screw The Gym, My Only Resolution For 2018 Is To Become A Better Person

By

Instead of promising myself that I will wipe the dust off of my gym membership or kickstart the diet I should have gone on long ago, my only resolution for 2018 is to become a better person. To treat the people I love the most with more affection and attention. To treat myself with more affection and attention.

In 2018, I am going to stop running from my problems. I am going to stop swearing I am fine when my insides are crumbling. I am going to stop forcing smiles and faking laughs. I am going to stop lying to myself. I am going to stop trying so hard to seem like I have my act together when I secretly have no idea what I am doing.

In 2018, I am going to force myself to abandon my comfort zone. I am going to experience new things. I am going to say yes to more adventures. I am going to say screw you to my anxiety. I am going to stop holding myself back out of fear.

In 2018, I am going to accept that I am imperfect and work on fixing the things I am capable of changing. I am going to break my bad habits. I am going to listen more. I am going to offer my help more. I am never going to let a day go by without letting my loved ones know how much they mean to me.

In 2018, I am not going to disappoint the people who trust me. I am going to rise to meet their expectations. I am not going to cancel plans at the last second. I am not going to ignore texts because I am too lazy to answer. I am not going to neglect the people who would never do the same to me.

In 2018, I am going to be a better friend. Daughter. Sister. Girlfriend. Neighbor. Coworker. I am going to set aside more time for my loved ones, even if that means rearranging my schedule or getting less sleep. I am going to go out of my way to help my family in the same way that they have always helped me. I am going to see my friends more and spoil my parents more. I am going to be more selfless than I have ever been before.

In 2018, I am going to express my feelings instead of bottling everything up inside. I am going to say thank you more. I am going to say I love you more. I am going to wear my heart on my sleeve because the people in my world deserve to know how I feel about them. They deserve all of the compliments I can offer. They deserve more than I could ever give.

In 2018, I am going to become a better, more mature, and more generous person. I am going to push myself to grow, even when it’s hard. I am going to develop into the kind of person I can honestly say I am proud of.
