She Doesn’t Keep Her Emotions Bottled Up Inside Anymore

By

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because she is tired of acting like she couldn’t care less about the people who mean the most to her. She is sick of pretending to be someone she is not. She is done with the days of trying to appear cool, of holding herself back so that she doesn’t come across as clingy.

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because she used to think that acting emotionless would protect her — but it turns out that she has still gotten disappointed. Even though she acted like nothing could hurt her, that didn’t change the way that she felt inside. That didn’t change the fact that her heart still formed fresh cracks.

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because she is ready to take a risk. She is ready to be vulnerable. She is ready to be brave.

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because she knows that playing pretend isn’t going to get her anywhere. If she acts like she doesn’t need anyone, then no one is going to want to stay in her life. They are going to assume that she doesn’t appreciate them. They are going to feel like she is pushing them away. They are going to leave her, and it is going to be her fault.

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because as she has grown older, she has slowly stopped giving a fuck. She doesn’t care if someone judges her over her feelings. They can call her overly emotional. They can call her dramatic. They can say whatever they want to say, because she isn’t going to let their opinions get to her.

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because she knows that crying doesn’t make her weak. It makes her human. It makes her normal. In fact, it takes more strength to be honest about how she is feeling than to keep pushing those feelings deep down in her gut. It takes more strength to be true to herself.

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because she actually wants other people to know how she feels now. They deserve to know how she feels. Life is too short to spread doubt and insecurity. She would rather spread love.

She doesn’t keep her emotions bottled up inside anymore because they are screaming to be released. Acting like she was emotionless took a toll on her. It forced her to cry inside of bathroom stalls and lie to her friends about being fine. It forced her to play pretend twenty-four seven. And she is done with that now. Now, she realizes there is a better way.

Now, she realizes that it is better to act authentic than to play pretend. It is better to speak her mind than to silence her thoughts. It is better to wear her heart on her sleeve than to pretend that she doesn’t have one.
