Read This When You Feel Like You’re About To Break

It’s okay to feel.

It’s okay to shut the bathroom door and bawl in front of your mirror about the little things, things that other people have no idea that you’re even upset about.

It’s okay if you have no idea why you’re crying yourself, if you don’t know why you’re upset in the first place.

It’s okay if you’re crying about things that happened years ago, decades ago, things that you should have put in your past by now.

It’s okay if you have no idea how to fix your problems, if you feel like the pain is never going to go away.

It’s okay if you have no one to text about what’s wrong, no one that would understand what you’re going through.

It’s okay if you’re embarrassed of the way you’re acting, if you feel like an idiot for caring so much about something that no one else would dwell on.

It’s okay if you want to blast music or run the tap, so no one hears your sobs.

It’s okay if you want to wipe your eyes and splash water on your face before leaving the room, if you don’t want anyone to realize that you were weeping.

It’s okay if you tell other people that you’re fine when they ask, because you want to appear strong.

And it’s okay if you decide to reach out to people instead, even though you’re worried about ‘bothering’ them.

It’s okay if someone overhears you in pain and comes to check on you, if someone sees you at your most vulnerable.

It’s okay if you need your loved ones to calm you down, because you can’t do it on your own.

It’s okay that you have emotions. It’s okay that you’re human.

It’s okay that you’re letting your feelings out instead of bottling them up inside until you turn blue.

It’s okay if the space behind your eyes stings, if your head is pounding with pain from all of the tears you’ve been shedding.

It’s okay that you’re in touch with your thoughts, that you are one with your body.

Remember, you’re not stupid for crying over a boy or a friend or a job or a television show. Your feelings are valid. You are valid.

It’s okay. Right now, it might not feel like it is, but it will be. It’s going to be okay. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
