This Is How You’re Going To Push Away A Great Girl

You’re going to push her away by putting too much emphasis on how attractive she is. By asking her for nudes and pawing at her during your dates. By reminding her that she’s beautiful instead of letting her know that you value her for more than just her looks. That she’s more than just a warm body to you.

You’re going to push her away by keeping your feelings locked inside. By sending her a drunken message that says ‘heyyy’ instead of admitting that you miss her. By letting her believe that you’re fine without her. That you don’t really care whether she’s a part of your life or not.

You’re going to push her away by treating her like your ex, like the girl that stole your heart and squished it between her fingers. You’re going to blame her for the pain of your past, even though she could be the one to bring joy to your future. You’re going to let your baggage get in the way of something amazing.

You’re going to push her away by acting the way you think she wants you to act. By putting on a show instead of having meaningful conversations with her where you reveal little pieces of your past. By keeping yourself at a distance so that she doesn’t have the opportunity to hurt you.

You’re going to push her away by sending mixed signals. By making her wonder if you’re serious about her or if you’re only leading her on. By hoping that she’ll magically realize that you care, even though you’ve given her every reason to believe it’s time for her to move on.

You’re going to push her away by waiting just a little too long to answer her texts. You’ll read what she’s written, but then hit the gym. Or update your Instagram. Or answer another friend’s text. You’ll make her feel less and less like a priority as the minutes tick by and her phone screen remains empty.

You’re going to push her away by bragging about all of the other girls that are interested in you. By trying to look like you have other options instead of letting her know that she’s your first choice. Your only choice.

You’re going to push her away by procrastinating, by putting off the things that she wishes you would do now. You’ll wait to introduce her to your parents. Wait to ask her on an official date. Wait to text her back. Wait to tell her how you feel.

You’re going to push her away by treating her like crap and expecting her to come back. By putting in zero effort and hoping that she’ll put in one hundred.

If you want her, if you really want her, then don’t act like she means nothing to you. Don’t try to play it cool. Tell her how you feel. Tell her the truth.

Otherwise, you’re going to lose the best thing that’s ever happened to you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
