1. He held a knife to his neck

“After I broke up with my abusive ex, he kept trying to run into me or get me to meet up with him for “closure”. I didn’t feel safe doing so as when I broke up with him he threw me on the ground to prevent me from leaving the apartment while he held a knife to his neck threatening to kill himself. Eventually he sent me an email threatening to kill my cat if I didn’t see him again. I never responded but let his parents know what he was doing and never heard from him again.” — sluteva

2. He shot at her until she died

“My aunt’s stalker waited outsider her office all day and then shot her in her car several times. She had filed several police reports about him before that. The police didn’t catch him until after the funeral.” — eyretothethrone

3. I had to knock her out to defend myself

“I dated a girl in high school. We lost our virginity to each other. Once we started having sex, she started getting very possessive. She tried to ban me from hanging out with my friends and wanted me to spend all of my free time with her.

So, after a few months of this, I broke up with her. That’s when crazy really started. She started showing up at my house and just standing outside. Then showing up everywhere I went. Then she had her mother call me and tell me we were supposed to get married, because we had sex.

Then she scratched up my car and threatened to kill herself if we didn’t get back together. It had gotten so bad my mother called the police a few times and I tried to get a restraining order.

Anyway, after a year of this, I gave up, we got married and now have 2 kids.

Joking. It finally ended when she tried to attack me in a mall parking lot and I knocked her out defending myself. Apparently, her mother told her I was no good because a man should never hit a women.

Never have sex with crazy people.” — kolop1

4. He committed suicide

“My first serious boyfriend stalked me for about 5 years after I broke up with him.

The reason I broke up with him is because I noticed him becoming increasingly possessive and controlling. This worried me a lot and I was really young (he was older than me) so I decided to get out. The break up itself was so brutal, he cried and screamed and begged.

Initially after the break up, his behavior seemed like the harmless actions of a bitter ex, constant texting and phone calls, sending gifts to my workplace, that sort of thing.

After about 6 months when this hadn’t died down, I started bumping into him on my way home from work or if I was out shopping so I ended up moving. I couldn’t leave my job immediately but moving house didn’t make a difference anyway.

This behavior continued for a few years. His behavior became increasingly worse (I’d rather not go in to detail) and the police were very reluctant to do anything.

I moved every 6-9 months and changed jobs twice but somehow he always managed to track me down. I didn’t use social media and even insisted friends of mine not take any pictures of me in case they posted them on social media. I kept my phone number within my circle of friends but somehow he always managed to get my new number.
I ended up a paranoid wreck thinking that one of my friends had betrayed me or that my phone company had me listed in a phone book and all others kinds of crazy thoughts.
Then another year passed and as our encounters got worse (again, I’d rather not go in to detail), I decided to report him to the police again and this time they took some action.

At this stage I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t concentrate at work, I was a shell.

About 2 months after I reported him to the police I woke up one morning to a story in the newspapers about staff in the national tax office using resources improperly. My ex was the main perpetrator, using his job to access all of my information. In his job he had access to my tax records which meant every time I changed job, address or phone number, he had access to the most up-to-date information.

Before the court case began he committed suicide and I’m not ashamed to say I cried with relief. They were the worst years of my adult life.” — duillenua

5. He told me he wanted to rape me

“I was in middle school (8th grade) when formspring.me became popular. It’s just one of those anonymous question asking websites for those who don’t know. Anyways, I had one of those, and one day (Monday specifically), I started getting these creepy submissions saying stuff like, “I watch you going down ***** Street after school all the time.” and “You’re so beautiful, I want to rape you so badly.” Stuff like that. But at this point, it kind of just weirded me out and didn’t think too much about it since it was likely a friend of mine just screwing with me. So I took down my formspring site and went about my day. But the next day, I started receiving really creepy emails from someone I didn’t know. They started to get really creepy, mentioning my teachers’ names, asking me to meet them at the park so they could rape me, counting down the days I would die (Friday), and describing in detail about how he would rape me, then kill me, and kill anyone else that was with me. So I started getting really freaked out and blocking the emails, but he realized this and started making new emails to send me everyday. Every day, he would count down the days until Friday, until my death. I really didn’t want to tell my parents this, since I still thought that it was maybe a joke, but I ended up breaking on that Wednesday after my school administration did nothing about it. They kept me in from school on Thursday and on Friday and called the police. The police eventually found out it was just some random quiet kid in my math class, who I’ve never talked to, nor had mutual friends with.

This was probably the scariest thing that’s happened to me, just because the emails were so descriptive and because the kid was just some random guy I didn’t know at all. I was so young and all of my friends never took it seriously. I really couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, and I was always shivering (from fear I guess?). Thinking about it just makes me really uncomfortable.” — californiadoggirl

6. He was hiding underneath my bed

“My stalker ex leaked pictures of me in my underwear but that scarily is not the craziest thing he did to me. One time I was home alone and I used to rarely lock the door (I lived with my mother at the time) so I went for a shower completely unaware that I was in danger. I finished with my shower when I noticed a presence. Someone was under my bed. I knew that I didn’t have time to run to the bathroom. I picked up the phone and called the police(luckily the operator knew I wasn’t pranking her) and acted like I am calling my mom so he wouldn’t know I am calling the police and do something crazy and so he’d think I won’t be alone anymore. ‘Mom, are you close? I might need you to pick something up.’ ‘M’am, you have contacted the wrong person.’ ‘Mom, I asked ‘are you close?’. I need help with something.’ ‘M’am are you unable to talk but need help?’ ‘Yes, mom.’ ‘Can you tell me your address?’ ‘You’ll need to put your name and [street name and number] on the envelope, mom.’ ‘Thank you, m’am. I’ll send help immediately.’ The second I put down the phone, he got from under the bed. I tried to not show him I was scared of him. ‘We need to talk, inthewakeofchaos. Look, I don’t want to disturb you but did you get my letter?’ ‘Yes. I need some time to think about it. Would you like some tea?’ I forced a smile and willed the police to come quicker in my head. Sure enough, someone knocked on my door. When I opened the door, I couldn’t stop my tears and barely stopped myself from hugging the police officers. I explained to them the situation while my ex claimed I was lying. They searched him and found a knife concealed in his pocket and a Beretta so they charged him with carrying a weapon he didn’t have a licence for and trespassing. He did some time in state prison and now I have a restraining order against him. I never go to sleep before I check under the bed and make sure every door is locked.” — inthewakeofchaos

7. She raped me

“I was 13, they were 17. They manipulated me into dating them, then forced me into having sex with them. Told me if I left they’d tell everyone. If I don’t send them pictures of myself they’ll tell everyone. Then used to pictures to further blackmail me. This went on for 7 months. Before my mother found them dragging me out of the front door.

I’m a guy, and they’re a girl.

‘Girls can’t rape.'” — FunnyThrowName

8. He kicked in the door while we were home

“My ex had a stalker for two years. 1 year before I met her and during the first year that we dated. He would never do anything too drastic, a few phone calls here and there with no speaking. Following her, making her feel uncomfortable. And whenever we called the police they said there was really nothing they could do, due to the lack of evidence. Really the final straw was when he kicked in the door WHILE WE WERE HOME. The alarm system scared him off, but we called the police per usual and they said they would look into it. I felt that they were taking too long with the whole situation and decided to take matters into my own hands. I know this is extremely dangerous now that I’m looking back at it, but I was a wild guy. Anyways, we devised a plan. My girlfriend would leave the house alone and she would tell me if he was tailing her. If he was, I would tail him. Well, he was. The fact that he wasn’t in jail infuriated me, so I lost it and took matters into my own hands. While my ex went into the local pharmacy, he parked and waited for her. In a fit of rage, I walked up to his car, opened his door and beat the living shit out of him. I feel I went overboard because I’m a pretty big guy and once he was on the ground I began to stomp his jaw, which in turn, unhinged it. I told him if he continued I’d eventually kill him, and he never returned. The guy who was stalking her was, get this, a guy who had a crush on her in high school. Not an ex, not a lover, but a deranged freak. I still have nightmares about the door incident to this day though.” — cwood1141

9. She broke into my house

“I worked at a convenience store. There is also a halfway house full of medicated/unstable/psycho people around the corner from where I live, so they often come into the store. I was 17 when this all happened.

There was this one woman who from afar seemed normal, but up close something was a little thing was off. Her makeup was a bit weird. She would wear bright red lipstick, sometimes yellow or bright pink and always a bit messy. She always wore the same thing and walked around like she was slightly confused.

I remember the first time she entered the store. She bought a 30 cent pack of gum, with a 10 dollar bill. As I was giving her change she stared at me in a very creepy way, she didn’t blink. She complimented me “you’re so…. pretty and beautiful, I want to be like you” with an eerie grin. “haha, thanks…here is your change” then she said “You know I have a million dollars? I’m also going to marry ryan seacrest and we’re going to live on a BIG house on the moon. I would tell you where I hid my million dollars, but I have the power to not tell you.” (She also said many more wacky things similar to this.)

“ok” and off she went. I figure “oh it’s just one of the schizophrenic people from around the corner, they never cause any harm”

She began frequenting the store much more. She would enter with a silent smile, walk round the store without breaking eye contact and leave in silence. Just went in just to stare. I told my friends about her and they agreed she was creepy as fuck, so I started carrying around pepper spray just in case.

Then she began to actively stalk. I would be walking my dog and she’d be staring at me from behind a car. I would be sitting on my balcony and she’d shout “hey thought factory!! you look so pretty today!” I would be walking down a store isle and she would be behind a rack, giggling and whispering to herself, I’d turn around and she’d run away. I had it up to here. (there were also a few other places where she “ran into me”) Why the fuck is she stalking me!?

The final straw was when she broke into my house a few days later, and I have webcam footage of this.

I was ready to take a shower on night when I heard the front door open form all the way in my room.I heard a faint “Ohh, so this is ThoughtFactory’s house”

I freaked the fuck out, I turn my laptop webcam on for evidence incase anything went down and stood over by my phone. I was panicking. I ask “what are you doing here” and she asks “I.. I wanted to see if you were in here, do you have a phone I could borrow?” “go use the one outside” “..I don’t have enough money” “It’s only like 35 cents” “I don’t have 35 cents” “Yeah well you can’t be in here, so go.” She turns around and I stand there watching her as she leaves. I hear some rustling by my door, I run over and I see her stuffing some of my family’s dirty laundry clothes into her shirt. “Leave that alone! that is NOT yours!” she dumps it out with the quickness and runs out the door.

I called the police on her and she never stalked me again. The last night I saw her she was giving a homeless guy a blow job outside of my window around 2 a.m while his homeless friends watched and jerked off. One guy started crying because of envy and stormed off.” — ThoughtFactory

10. He threatened to kill himself

“When I was in high school there was this really creepy guy who wanted to date me. He really creeped me out, so I always said no. The first time I said no, he punched a nearby locker as hard as he could and ran away. After that, he started joining all the after school clubs I was in and would follow behind me as I walked home from school. I would kinda answer back as he talked to me, and I’d tell him I didn’t really like that he followed me, but I was too shy to be really upfront about wanting him to stop following me. He would usually turn around and leave once I turned on to the street I lived on, so at least he never went all the way to my house.

There were 2 incidents that are equally scary in my mind:

After a few months of my turning down dates, he told me if I did not go out with him that he would kill himself. I still said no. Then, the next few days he was absent from school. When he returned, he had bandaged wrists. He found me when I was in an empty hallway going to lunch and he cornered me, held his bandaged wrists up to me and told me that I made him do it. I didn’t reply, and just walked away.

Another incident near the end of the year, he was graduating and I was 2 years below him, so I was not. Well, after a club meeting, I had stayed behind to clean up a little bit, since I was the president, and my friend had stepped out to go grab something from their locker, and I didn’t see him come back into the room. But he came up to me and grabbed my boob. I don’t remember what he said, but I was absolutely freaked out. I assumed he did it cause he didn’t think he’d see me again and he was “taking all he could get” at the time. But he ended up showing up all over the place the next few years cause he transferred to my college. I became absolutely paranoid with him there, he exhibited every possible behavior of a controlling, manipulative sociopath and I was terrified he’d try something worse.

I finally transferred schools and about a year later I started getting emails from him, most of which were apologies for how “mean” he was to me and asking if I forgave him, but the emails quickly turned into him begging for my facebook info. I had him blocked on facebook since high school and I absolutely didn’t want him to know where I was going to school, so I ended up blocking him on my email too. Since then I have not heard from him again and I have also moved across the country for other reason, but the move honestly brought me a lot of relief that I wouldn’t accidentally run into him sometime.” — qwertykitty

11. He flew three hours to see me

“I wouldn’t call him a stalker, just a creeper. We were friends in college. Tried to date but it didn’t work due to long distance. We stayed friends. Texted sometimes. Chatted on Facebook. I end up getting into a pretty serious relationship with someone else. He deletes me off Facebook and tells me he no longer wants to talk. That was cool with me. I understood.

A year later (A YEAR LATER), he shows up unannounced. Mind you, he lives in a state that’s 3 hours away by plane. I ask what’s going on and tell him that my SO is here and I’m feeling uncomfortable. He leaves then proceeds to call/text saying how rude I am. That he just wants to talk.

My SO agrees I should just see him and tell him to leave me alone so he drives me to a public place and I meet with him. He tells me that he’s sorry, but he’s no longer interested in me and he came all this way to tell me because I deserved to know the truth.

I left and barely said a word. My SO thought it was crazy but hilarious. The creeper then proceeds to text me that night asking if I was interested in him.

I blocked him and never heard back.” — autumnx

12. She physically attacked me

“There was this girl in highschool. She wasn’t pretty, wasn’t funny, wasn’t enjoyable to be around. And she needed attention. So she would stalk people. It was my turn when I was 16. She followed me around during school. Cutting her classes and following me into mine until the teachers told her to leave. She would show up at my house before school and try to talk to me, then follow me very closely to school. Even when I had morning sports practice, she knew about it and would be at my house at 430 AM when I was leaving for practice. She would sit there and watch practice (which isn’t the weirdest, girls did that frequently, but as a group and because one of their boyfriends was on the team or whatever, she just sat there alone.) She would sit next to me at lunch, if all the chairs were taken, she would stand. After school she would watch practice again. I would usually make a McDonalds or chickfila run with some teammates after practice. She would follow. Then I usually went home. She would follow. She would try to follow me into my home. I would lock doors. She would ring the doorbell and talk to my parents. The first time it happened they let her in. After that first time they didn’t let her in anymore, and she would sit in her car in the street right outside my house. She would go home late after dark. And she would be back again at 430 in the morning.

Weekends were bad. Every Saturday I had to compete, so Saturday mornings I got up early, drove somewhere really far away (other school districts) and she would be there. I would race and do stuff with the team. Coach would yell at her for not giving the athletes enough space. Everything is over, I go home. She follows. She just walks into the house if you leave any doors unlocked. Parents stop responding to the doorbell. One time, my dad, really upset with her. Tells her I have a girlfriend and she needs to go get her own life. (I didn’t have a girlfriend at the time.) That just pissed her off. She started screaming at my dad. He closed the door in her face. My mother called the cops. I was in the basement playing skyrim trying to pretend this wasn’t happening.

Next time I saw her was at school, she yelled at me, slapped me for “cheating on her”, cried very openly and loudly. I just walked past. She followed me around bawling. Followed me into classes, crying. Followed me at lunch, crying. After practice in the afternoon she walks up to me and says she forgives me and we can keep dating. Nothing you can say registers with this girl.

This goes on for about a month, then she moved on to a new “boyfriend.” She did this to about 9 dudes over the course of 3 years.

Where is she now? She made a porno. It’s gross, trust me you don’t want to see it. She did it weeks after graduating highschool. While she still lived with her family. And then she sent the links to people so everyone would know. As far as I know she still just does porn, but its been a few years since I’ve bothered to check what’s been up with her.” — thedankbank1021

13. She sent me hundreds of letters

“My boyfriend’s mum stalked me for over a year. My relationship with my boyfriend ended and his mum continued to stalk me.

What creeped me out were her letters. We lived very close to each other and I got over 100 letters through my letterbox from her.

It was the content that disturbed me. Despite knowing that I’m gay she was absolutely in love with me. She took every slight nice thing I ever did or said as “Glitter-Herpes loves me.”

She sent me pics of her as a child and everything. As though I was interested.

I don’t hate her, I genuinely think she’s mentally ill. At one point I dreaded going into town in case she saw me. I stopped performing at the local poetry event because I knew she would be there.

I still get bad butterflies in my stomach on the very rare times I see her in town.

Before anyone asks why I never went to the police or tried to get her sectioned: my boyfriend was and is very dependent on her and anything like that would result in him being left alone.

On a positive note: she inspired a character in a novel I’m writing.” — Glitter-Herpes

14. She waited for me in the parking lot

“I had one when I was first starting my radio career (DJ for US readers, presenter for English readers). I was a reasonably good looking early 20’s male with a decent personality. Over my career I had several “ardent fans” but only the one I would call a stalker. She was no where near as scary as other stories in this thread but she was persistent.

She started by calling the radio program more and more often, then began hanging out in the radio station’s parking lot until I got off work. If I was doing a public appearance she would always show up. Eventually she figured out what car I drove and she began following me from time to time. I spoke to the police about it and learned to do small “counter surveillance” things like vary my route from work to home, make random turns, leave at different times. You know, break up the pattern as much as possible.

She was more annoying than dangerous. Basically she was a 30 something year old woman with the mentality of a 14 year old with a crush but the following me thing was pretty creepy.

One night I was leaving work, dead tired, and not paying attention. She followed me to the apartment complex I was living in. Luckily I figured it out before I got to my building. So I did a tour of the whole complex, then drove across town towards the police station. I guess she figured out where I was headed because she quit following me about two blocks from the station.

Anyway, thankfully, she never did figure out where I lived. Then one day it just stopped. No more following, no more calls, no more anything. Apparently a radio station across town had hired a new guy and she became fixated on him. Once I found that out I called and gave him a friendly heads up.” — ragbagger

15. I received serious death threats

“I moderate on Reddit, and a lot of people really hate moderators, so I’ve had a few death threats.

The scariest thing is when they start PMing with personal information and that kind of thing. I haven’t ever had a run-in with anyone from reddit who hated me, but the things they claim to want to do (behind the guise of anonymity) are pretty creepy. Death threats and other threats of harm and abuse.

Just part of moderating I guess.” — IranianGenius

16. She severely vandalized the car

“One of my older brothers had a stalker when I was younger. She had dated my brother’s then girlfriend (who is also a total psycho, but that’s another story) and was hellbent on getting my brother out of the picture. She would come to our house at all hours of the night, she would attack our vehicles, she would follow us when we went out. The final straw was the night she tried to break into our house and severely vandalized my brother’s truck. The cops were called, and she was arrested, and she left him and our family alone.” — tomdelongethong

17. He took photographs with a knife

“I was with a guy for a few months, we met in a mental hospital. Not the best place to meet someone. He was violent and raped me on more than one occasion, and we broke up.

After I broke up with him he tried to kill himself and I called the police so he was sectioned. A few months later, he was out, and taking pictures of himself outside my mother’s house with a knife. The police were called, gave him a slap on the wrist, and left it alone. He still contacts me through social media every 6 months or so to try and ‘right his wrongs.’

Yeah, ’cause that’s gonna happen. It was pretty scary.” — InsanityBells

18. He raped me

“I had a couple stalkers, but the worst one was the guy that raped me a few years back. The whole time during the investigation, I’d find his truck behind me or I’d see him drive by the two places I worked, slowly like he was taunting me. My case was closed and nothing happened to him. I was horrified by the thought of it continuing and ended up moving to a different state. For well over a year after I moved, I’d see a truck like his and panic. Then I started getting weird phone calls, voicemails, and texts from numbers where I moved from. Heavy breathing, loud noises, hang ups, “who is this” texts, etc. I’ve always thought it was him, but I’ve never been able to prove it.” — zizrzazrzuz

19. He watched me sleep

“My ex broke into my house while I was asleep and sat there watching me sleep, I woke up and saw him just sitting there.” — Ajido

20. I was the stalker

“I stalked a girl out of for about 3 years before I finally realized just what I was doing.

I met her in highschool and fell head over heels. You see I was bullied a lot throughout school, I was sort of an outcast. And I isolated myself because I didn’t trust people.

At the point I met her most of the females around me seemed either dismissive and annoyed I was even near them, or only nice because they didn’t want to be mean.

But she was different, when I met her she treated me like I was human, like I was worth something. To sum it up with a metaphor, every time I was thirsty, people would hand me a glass of vinegar, she was the first to hand me a glass of ordinary water.

It seemed like something special, even though it wasn’t.

A few months later her family moved out of town.

But at this point I was convinced she was “the one” my only key out of that hell. My ticket to finally being able to have a happy life.

I found every bit of information about her online, every one of her accounts across various social media sites. I posted to her Facebook page on a weekly basis. If she did something online, I knew about it. Eventually I contacted her younger siblings online. And started chatting with them.

It finally culminated in me going to her house, which I had found by going through her pictures.

I knocked on the door thinking she would be gleeful to see me. And there was no answer. Then it all hit me.

This wasn’t an endeavour of love. She didn’t feel anything special towards me. I was being erratic and obsessive. I so deeply regret my actions. I feel that the only thing I can do that would come close to an apology is to distance myself as completely as possible. Make it so that all she knows of me is in distant memories.” — Forgetaboutthelonely

21. He threatened to destroy my reputation

“I met a guy while hiking once. We talked for a little while. One thing I noticed is that when we first spoke he spoke with a slight medieval/british accent…after we talked it went back normal American. Anyway, we found each other interesting and exchanged Facebook info.

After a few days of talking online we decided to meet up at a library. Everything seemed fine, no red flags going up…yet. He was nice and the first things I began to notice was his eccentric way of talking, he talked like an old school philosopher where you asked him a question and he would respond in a question. It got kind of annoying, but I brushed it off as just being silly. I went to his house after the first “date”. I met his mom, she was sweet but she hoarded cats and was a chain smoker.

I went to his room and after a little while of talking he stood up and soliloquized “Ok, so YOUR bed is going here and me bed is going to be arranged there…” I was like what?! he said “You’re going to move in with me, I’m trying to think where our beds should go” “dude, I JUST met you like 2 days ago… what makes you think I’ll be moving in with you? and he said “I desire a queen” with the creepy medieval tone. So once I had enough of him he kept messaging me on Facebook non-stop. I of course, blocked him. That wasn’t enough though. I recall him creating about a dozen Facebook accounts with weird play-on word names like “miss terry” or “olive you” and such. Creepy. He kept sending me messages at all hours of the night, I kept blocking and reporting each one. I remember one saying he was out to destroy my reputation because I had the “gall” to leave him. I remember the last message he sent after the dozenth time he decided to stop, it went something like “philospher_stalker, You got me pregnant, I can feel our child growing inside of me, in my belly. It is a beautiful thing we have created. I will see you in the next life, forever”

I am female, I couldn’t have gotten him pregnant.” — philosopher_stalker

22. She carved my initials into her skin

“Had a girlfriend scratch my initials into her ankle with a spoon.

… I dated her for another month.” — bcos4life

23. He dressed up like a clown

“He’d show up everywhere I went, dressed as a clown. It was like a bad horror movie. I couldn’t figure out for the longest time how he knew where I’d be, but it turned out a “friend” was feeding him info. Once I cut her off, he had a lot harder time finding me.” — PigeonDrivingBus

24. My manager had to ban him

“When I was about 19 I met this guy who worked at the Subway near where I worked. He was a nice enough guy and he took me out on a date. Everything started off really well, but about a week into it he started asking me for money. It started off small at first, like for a soda or five bucks for gas. Then he started asking for larger amounts, like a few hundred to get him by for a week or so. I never gave it to him, but he started wanting to move in together within about 2 weeks of dating. When we would go out places he started to do very weird things. He would start screaming in public or singing nonsense at the top of his lungs. He would always play around afterward that he was just having fun, but it was weird and embarrassing to be seen with him. Also, my dog who loves everyone would not let him near me. I’ve never seen that dog so much as growl at another person, but he would try and bite the shit out of him when he came close to me.

By the end of the second week I broke up with him over the phone. I normally didn’t do that, but at the time his erratic behavior made me nervous.

He completely flipped the fuck out. He started showing up where I worked to the point where my manager had to ban him from the building and co-workers walked me to my car. He would show up literally EVERYWHERE I was, even to the grocery store or the gas station. I started getting text messages and weird e-mail about how “we were meant to be” and “he couldn’t live without me” and such. Then one day he showed up in the middle of the night and told me to come outside. I told him to leave or I was going to the cops. He literally started sobbing to the point where he was almost hyperventilating. I went back inside and locked the house up.

The next day I was home alone and just doing some work (at the time I was in college) when I heard some rustling by the front door. I thought it was just the dog messing around or the mailman or something, but the dog started barking and growling. The door bell began to ring. I didn’t think much of it, probably just a solicitor. They someone started messing with the door handle. I grabbed a broom of all things because that was all I had and I heard someone open the door. My dog tried to bite him and I locked myself in my bathroom and started screaming that I called the police. He up and ran away. I called my neighbor who lived across the street from me and was former military. He checked out the house and made sure he was gone. My dog had a few scrapes and cuts on him, but he was okay. I filed for a restraining order the next day and my dad took the liberty of calling his father and explaining what happened.

I received a few other e-mails him following that, but he never came to my house again. Luckily, I’ve moved a few hours away and I’m married now, but it was still very frightening at the time considering this was only about a 3 week period.” — blue_raspberry_jello

25. He followed me into the bathroom

“When I was eight, I went to the pool in the beginning of summer with my sisters and sat down on the bool bench. This guy (about eleven) laid down next to me and said, “You’re beautiful. Will you go out with me?” My sisters thought it was funny and kind of let it go, but he creeped me out. But every time I went to the pool, he was there too, telling me how pretty I was and asking me to go out with him, introducing me to his disabled grandmother (who brought him to the pool).

Anyway, one day this girl came up to me and asked me if Chris was bothering me. I said that I didn’t really care and she rolled her eyes and joked about how he used to ask her out too, and that she was glad he’d found someone else to pine over. The girl, Elizabeth started hanging out with me when I went to the pool (which was almost every day since I was allowed to go by myself.) She explained that she and Chris were good friends from a different neighborhood but came to our pool because it was bigger and had more room for his grandmother work on her physical therapy for her legs. We became great friends and laughed about how Chris was always following us around and asking me out.

But one day I noticed that he followed me all the way back to my house and tried to hide behind a mail box when I saw him. As funny as it is, that creeped me out. I began to notice that he was getting more aggressive and annoyed with me for refusing to date him. He started asking me to go on walks with him through the park and brought his grandmother so I didn’t feel like I could say no. He would take me into the woods or behind the jungle gym, out of sight from his grandmother, and make creepy comments about my body and touch my cheek while telling me how pretty I was. He continued to follow me home, even when I took a short cuts through the woods or the long way that led in circles. His presence began to make me nervous, because I wasn’t sure what would happen if I continued to turn him down.

Finally, during the last week the pool was open, I went to the bathroom. The bathrooms are a bit off to the the side of the pool and closed off with a large, heavy metal door so kids don’t sneak in and vandalize it at night. The second I entered, the door shut behind me and the lights turned off. Then I heard Chris say, “I’m not letting you out until you agree to go out with me!” and he locked the door. The bathroom was cold and pitch black, and I was terrified of the dark at the time. The tile was that disgusting, slimy, wet feeling that tile gets when it’s wet with bits of dirt and sand on it, which is why I never liked going in there in there first place. It also smelled like chlorine and a typical sub-par public restroom. Stuff of nightmares for an eight year old!

I started banging on the door and screaming for help, but nobody could hear me because of the really heavy door and the location. But then some angry soccer mom started screaming at me to stop pranking her and how much trouble I was in. Turns out that she’d been locked in too, and was mad that while she was peeing, the lights turned off. She called for help and I was let out of the bathroom. Being eight, I didn’t think about it much, but now I realize how creepy the whole situation was. I probably should have told someone the first time he followed me home.” — bubblegumpandabear

26. She handed me the creepiest love letters

“I had this stalker throughout high school. She would claim we were dating even when I already had a girlfriend. I’m Asian and she was obsessed with them. We had one conversation once and we asked basic questions to get to know each other and every answer she gave was related to Asians.

The creepiest thing she did was give me an envelope and told me not to open it until I got home but of course I opened it right then and their. Inside were pages of creepy stuff about me. She’d have creepy love letters. She had a page of graph paper in there that had my name written in every single square front and back. She had drawings of me. One of the drawings she had was a picture of me and her making out in the hallway and my then girlfriend watching us and crying in the background. I told her to back off after that.” — Neooutlaw0 Thought Catalog Logo Mark
