29 Disturbingly Dark Episodes Of Kid’s Shows You Won’t Believe Actually Aired

9. Raven was denied a job, because she was black

If anyone remembers the episode of That’s So Raven when Raven was trying to get a job at a fashion retailer but didn’t because she was black. Then later on, Eddy saying how he had an encounter of his own as a child when he couldn’t be friends with a kid because he himself was black.

Two others in Proud Family when one family was moving in and had their house spray painted, and when Penny went back in time and couldn’t be friends with Zoey.

Those episodes scared me as a child because I had only ever heard of racism, but to see my favorite characters experience it was kinda dark.

10. The main character was buried alive

That episode of Thomas the Tank Engine where they brick Henry up alive in the tunnel.

11. Eddy was physically abused by his brother

Eddy from Ed Edd ‘n’ Eddy getting beat up by his brother, revealing that the person he looks up to is a complete asshole and is the reason for Eddy’s insecurities. I’m so fucking glad everyone united in the end.

12. A woman was forced into a retirement home

I’ve been watching Animaniacs on Netflix and there’s an episode called One Flew Over The Cuckoo Clock where Slappy goes insane and her nephew has to put her in a retirement home because he can’t take care of her.

At one point he gets taken away by child services because his aunt can’t take care of him.

It’s a parody of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest but I’ve actually never read this book, don’t know what it’s about, so I was so surprised with the entire episode. It just seemed so much darker than any other Animaniacs episodes I’d been watching and so much more depressing.
