To The Girl That Has Panic Attacks: I Am Here For You

Hey, beautiful.

I just wanted to tell you that it’s going to be okay even if you feel like your chest feels like it’s closing in and your life feels like it’s over. I promise you, sweetheart, it’s not. I have been there, many times; sometimes I have more attacks then I can count in a day.

As you may know, they don’t have to be noticeable – it could be anything from feeling like your heart is about to fall out of your chest, to feel like your whole body is going to go numb and you can’t control what happens next. I am telling you, that you will pull through with each breath you take and each time you want to just go in a corner and hide.

Some days, you will lose the battle and the attack will take over and you have to let it. Riding through that hurricane will make you stronger and shape you into a bigger human being then you could ever thought possible.

Not everyone will know what you’re going through. They won’t know what it’s like to have your heart and mind going through a race to see which one will win first. Telling you that your life is not that hard, and you need to get over whatever you’re thinking about. Yeah, okay…

Having panic attacks aren’t planned, you don’t wake up saying, “I want to have a panic attack at 1:30 p.m. at a family reunion.” Panic attacks decide the dates, times, and who you are with for you. They sneak in when you could be having one of the best days and it hits you like ticking time bomb. Your mind may just drift and you may get lost in your own head for awhile sometimes thinking about nothing or maybe it’s something that was so traumatic in your life that you just have to relive it again just to make sure that you really did go through with it…hey, sometimes it’s better than being in reality for a little bit.

Honey, I am here to tell you that every day is going to be a struggle but I know you can do it. I know you can make it. I have been there where I search in my phone of who to call to when I am crying my eyes and feel so alone – not wanting to bother my loved ones again when I just spoke to them about it the day before. I know what it’s like to think will all these loved ones be there for me tomorrow or the next day?

Girl, I promise you that you are going to be okay no matter what the outcome is and where your life is headed – just take it one day at a time. Know that you are beautiful, kind and amazing in every way. I promise you that panic attacks, as evil as they are, are worth it. I am here for you. TC mark
