This 2-Year-Old Toddler Talked His Father Out Of Committing Suicide

Unable to pay for rent, 39-year-old Rao Ni, stood at the edge of a bridge in Lingao County, China, contemplating jumping to his death.

He had worked as a construction worker, but had not signed a contract with the company that employed him. Without the written contract, Rao and his fellow co-workers numbering in the 40s were stiffed their pay. Unable to recoup what he was owed, and feeling helpless and ashamed, Rao Ni, a father and husband, decided to end his life.

Passersby quickly alerted police nearby, where they contacted Rao’s wife and child. The authorities talked to him until his family arrived. It was then the little boy started to cry and called out for his father.

Police spokesman Guo Tsou said: “It is difficult to know what the boy could make out of what was happening, but he must’ve heard his mother and father talking for hours and realised both were upset, and he was also in tears. At the end when he started calling his dad, it seemed to get through to him and then the two fell into each other’s arms.” TC mark
