Pearl Moen, who described the experience of stabbing a woman 21 times as “fantastic” has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Moen was 17-years-old at the time of the attack. She positioned herself in Austin’s Hyde Park and hid in the bushes — just waiting for somebody to come by. It was just after 7:15am when she spotted her victim. The woman (who has not revealed her name to media) set out a blanket to relax on when Moen came at her with a knife. She was stabbed 21 times before running off.

Perhaps almost as disturbing as the attack itself, were the diary entries Pearl Moen wrote about the event:

I stabbed an innocent woman to death earlier today (well yesterday since it’s 1 a.m.) … It was absolutely fantastic. Murder gives me a high unlike any other. It feels like this crisp unreality, flashing and sparkling, adrenaline and shock, fight or flight mode.

The Daily Mail reported that Moen was smiling during the entirety of the attack on the defenseless woman.

Moen’s diary entries continued, talking about the stabbing in horrifying detail:

I’m so proud of myself. I stabbed her like 20 times. Maybe more. I wasn’t counting. She screamed and grabbed at me, saying, ‘What the (expletive)?! Help. Leave.

The attack collapsed the victim’s right lung. Because the victim was a nurse, however, she was able to keep herself in stable condition until she was able to flag down help.

During the attack, the nurse ripped off Moen’s gold ring. This ring was later able to be used to confirm that Moen was the attacker, along with her disturbing diary entries.

Moen’s own mother turned her in after reading the pages in her diary. The mother also told police that her daughter frequently threatened her with a knife, and had other violent tendencies. Her boyfriend also came forward to reveal that Moen had a knife collection, and often joked about stabbing people.

While her victim is set to make a full recovery, she remains disturbed by how much joy and pleasure Moen got from the attack:

I always thought she would walk around with guilt, but knowing she had this joy and this pride is very unsettling.

I’ll be very unsettled in 15 years when this chick gets out of prison.
