After George Joseph McShane allegedly strangled his wife Kristen McShane to death, he was in a panic. After all, wouldn’t friends and family become suspicious if their good friend just suddenly vanished?

He decided that the best way to forestall their suspicion was to log-in to her Facebook account, and pretend to be her for a while.

George began by posting this message from Kristen’s Facebook onto her timeline:

This might give Kristen’s friends a reasonable excuse for why she wasn’t answering any of her texts. However, George wasn’t done with the illusion yet.

He started to respond to Kristen’s family and friends who were commenting on the status update:

He even went as far as to respond to Kristen’s own mother when she stepped forward to offer her “daughter” an Android to borrow:

But, of course, Kristen wasn’t writing any of these Facebook posts at all. It was all George. But the front didn’t ultimately rescue him from justice.

Last Tuesday, George Joseph McShane was arrested on charges of domestic battery by strangulation and murder in the second degree. Police were tipped off to the crime when a relative stopped by the McShan residence and found Kristen dead, and George planning to kill himself.

When police arrived, they found George in his 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe in the garage with the vehicle running. They removed him from the premises and removed Kristen’s body that was in the master bedroom, covered up by a comforter.

According to the police report, it was an argument that flew out of control:

“During the course of the argument, George stated he lost his temper and jumped on Kristen, using his two hands to choke her until he realized she was dead.”
