The Kind Of Love I Want

By

I want a love I can kiss as soon as I wake up in the morning without minding the morning breath. I want a love that can bear riding jeepneys and tricycles amidst the polluted city air. I want a love I can stay in bed with on a lazy day and just talk about our dreams and silly stories and places we’d like to travel. I want a love that calls me out on my bullsh*t because she genuinely cares.

I want a love that gets my corny jokes. I want a love that I could just be myself no matter how scary that may sound. I want a love that will lay with me as I nurse a terrible migraine. I want a love that will push me to be better and better. I want a love that will encourage me to take risks because win or lose I know she’s just there. I want a love I could proudly broadcast in Facebook that I’m no longer single.

I want a love I could introduce to my friends and family without a tinge of hesitation or shame. I want a love that has the same neural wavelength as mine. I want a love founded on purity and trust, even if that may seem too ideal in this modern age. I want a love that can say No if that’s what it takes. I want a love that learns how to wait.

I want a love that’s cheesy and corny and boring because nothing’s really cheesy and corny and boring if you have that kind of love. I want a love that isn’t a life sentence. I want a love that knows my ugly past and loves me just the same. I want a love that compels me to completely give myself for free.

I want a love so infectious I could no longer recover. I want a love that whirls and disorients me and brings chaotic disorder.

I want a love so strong it would totally knock me out cold on the floor.
