April Ludgate’s Top 5 Most April Ludgate-y Moments

By

Aubrey Plaza, you have captured my heart with your evil smirk and your flat line delivery. You’re like, as one ex-boyfriend put it, “a sexy ghost” or if Lydia from Beetlejuice grew up and got hot.

Your character on Parks and Recreation April Ludgate is also hilarious and wonderful. She truly became a 3D humanized part of the Pawnee world when she, a seemingly distant, dark person, fell hard for the goofy, lovable Andy Dwyer. It was a perfect match.

Here are the 5 most April Ludgate-y moments. Because she hates talking to people…about things.

1. Janet Snakehole

When Andy and April decide to roleplay, Andy takes on the part of an FBI agent while April goes for the black widow, Janet Snakehole. She’s got a terrible secret but she’s doing a pretty bad job of hiding it. Plus, later when April consumes too much Snake Juice, her true self comes out:

2. Speaking Spanish

At one point, April says, “My mom’s Puerto Rican. That’s why I’m so lively and colorful.”

3. “Alf.”

Ann, who always tries way too hard, and April, who hardly ever tries, are at odds because Ann used to date April’s husband. But also, their personalities are the most clashing-est clash ever. Here, Ann tries to win April over with different topics of conversation only for April to shut her down brilliantly every time. By the last one, you know Ann doesn’t stand a chance.

4. April in the Beauty Pageant

This whole episode is great, but we really get to see April in a different light. Her monologue describing herself is one of the most hilarious bits of television I’ve seen.

5. April and Ron

Though April’s soulmate is Andy, her true counterpart is her one-time boss Ron Swanson. They were a perfect pair — hating people together, keeping the government from doing it’s job, being cynical. He became her father figure and she helped him stay as quirky and weird as he is. They trusted each other and made a great team. April’s now in Washington DC with Ben, and though their dynamic is also funny, I’m sure we all miss the days April and Ron were running the show.
