This Is Me Realizing That You Don’t Love Me

Jacob Postuma

This is me realizing that you don’t love me because I’m not your number one. If you love me, I would be your only one. You wouldn’t flirt with other people and you wouldn’t be interested in getting intimate with someone else. If you love me, I wouldn’t beg for your attention, it would be a given. I wouldn’t be worried if you’re just using me. I wouldn’t second guess your intentions and I wouldn’t doubt everything we have together. I wouldn’t have trust issues, I wouldn’t think you are untruthful or unfaithful.

If you love me, you would commit to me. You would choose being with me over being single. You would face your fear of missing out on what’s out there than lose what’s right in front of you.

If you love me, you would make me a priority in your life not an option. You would include me in your long-term plans. You would properly introduce me to your family. You would take me on dates. And you would book time off of your schedule to do things together, to explore new places with each other. I wouldn’t over-think if you’re the one or not. I will just be sure that you are.

This is me realizing that you don’t love me because you don’t take care of me. If you love me, you would make sure that I am safe and sound. You would offer to financially help until I can stand on my feet. You would spoil me with surprises. You wouldn’t text me if I’m okay when I am sick because you’ll be by my side. You would support me emotionally when I go through a hard time instead of abandoning me. If you love me, you would demonstrate your love in your actions. You would be there for my birthday. You would be there to celebrate my success. And you would be there to kiss me good night. If you love me, you would show me what I really mean to you instead of pretending that you don’t care, that I don’t matter. If you love me, you would make me feel safe and protected. You would go out of your way to make me smile. You would make me feel loved, important and appreciated. And you would make me live in a fairytale.

This is me realizing that you don’t love me because you don’t love me the way I deserve to be loved. You don’t love me in the way I need to be loved.

You don’t tell me you love me enough. You don’t kiss me passionately, like my kiss is your cure. You don’t look at me like I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to you. And you don’t share all of you with me. You don’t open your heart to mine. You don’t tear your walls down to let me in. You don’t allow yourself to be weak, vulnerable and emotional in-front of me. If you love me you wouldn’t be this scared to let me see you. If you love me, you would trust me and you would believe that I will never judge you. If you love me, you would give us a real chance at love. If you love me, I would be your best friend, your partner in crime, your person.

This is me realizing that you don’t love me because you’re letting me go. If you love me, you would become a better man for me, for us and for you. If you love me, you would change your ways and you would be patient with me as I change my ways, too. You would be my teacher, my guide and source of inspiration. If you love me, you would fight for us. You would stay when it’s difficult. You would love me when I’m a pain in the ass. You would listen when you want silence and you would speak when it hurts. And you would give me hope when I’m giving up.

If you love me, you would stay. If you love me, you would come back. If you love me, you would choose a life with me in it. If you love me, you would let me know instead of having me ask you what you want from me and what I mean to you. If you love me, I would already know it. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
