Let’s Live While We're Alive

Let’s Live While We’re Alive

I hope you know it’s not too late. It’s never too late to start a new life, a life you choose, a life you can call your own. You are allowed to change your mind. To choose a different path, even if that means you have to start over. Because you know what? It’s okay to walk away. It’s okay even when no one understands, you don’t need permission from no one but yourself. You see, we only get one life. And then it all ends, so we better go ahead and live it. We need to start making time for the things that matter. Those little moments that make us so damn grateful we are alive.  Say yes to that lunch your best friend invited you to (even if it takes you two hours to get there, I’m sure you’ll both be so happy to see each other.) Go get that iced coffee with your sister in that coffee shop across town you both love (time goes by fast and one day you’ll be living too far from each other to go on these dates.) Call your mom more often (I’m sure you’ll make her day.) Say I love you. Hug your people. Let them know just how loved and appreciated they are. We tend to forget that our stay here is fleeting. Time never stops, and when moments are over, they never come back, so while they are here we need to grab them with both hands and savor each second.

Do more things that make you smile. Watch more sunsets. Go to the beach and feel the warm breeze on your skin.  Eat your favorite food more often. Always order dessert. Appreciate the small things. On the hard days don’t forget that no matter how many times the world will break you, it will also build you right back up. There are so many beautiful things stored for you somewhere along the way. Know that the sun always rises again and things do get better. Know that life will astonish you. Know that there are things you don’t have a clue yet that will turn your world upside down in the best ways.

Live. With every single cell in your body, live. Right here. Right now. Someone once said most people die when they are 25 but aren’t buried until they’re 75, and what a terrible thing that is. That when given the opportunity of living, we waste it all. We let it slip away like water running through our fingers. In the end, we are our stories, our moments and our experiences. We are every book we once read, every place we ever visited and every person we loved. We are made of all the things that made us laugh and cry. We are the sum of our dreams and hopes. We are the ones in charge of writing this story. I hope we make it a beautiful one, a one that years from today we can look back and be proud of every single page of it.
