They’ve chosen to adopt into their lives a little monster who demands their time, money, and energy without being able to give anything in return but affection and companionship. They understand that love and relationships aren’t just about being entitled to what someone can give you. They are willing to sacrifice their comfort and ease, they know that love is work.

People who love dogs are laid back. They know that life is messy and imperfect and that everyone is happier when they figure out how to roll with the punches instead of being upset by every little thing. They’d rather spend their time living and enjoying their imperfect life than thinking or complaining about what’s not right.

Dog lovers are affectionate. More importantly, they are generous with affection both verbally and physically. When you’re in a relationship with one, they know how to make you feel loved. In casual, everyday hugs and in big gushy strings of compliments. When you are loved by a dog lover, you’ll know it.

They also have good values. They learn loyalty from the most loyal creatures of all. They aspire to be as good of a person as their pup is. They love nature and being outside to explore with their loved ones (especially of the four-legged variety). People who love dogs can value the simple things in life and stick pretty close to their simple morals.

For the record, you’ll also never be sure they love you more than they loves their beloved pooch, but that’s kind of the point, isn’t it?
