When we thought 2020 was crazy and couldn’t get any nuttier or more stressful, 2021 has seemed to start off a little anxiety-ridden and crazy itself. I won’t get into politics. I won’t get into COVID-19, because it’s all we ever hear right now. It’s all we’ve heard for almost a year.
I hope you stop to breathe. To feel the snow, the rain, the cold, crisp air of winter. There’s something so peaceful about it.
I hope you slow down and hear the warmth from children laughing in the park. I hope you smile when you see that same little old couple every day taking their afternoon stroll, hand in hand, looking at one another with a smile that’s never gone old.
I hope you stop to breathe in nature and marvel at its beauty and simplicity, taking time to focus on your breathing—slowly in and out.
I hope you take the time to let your thoughts, confusion, worries, or fears for the new year fade away. I hope you replace it with positive thoughts, hopes, wishes and dreams for this New Year.
This year, I encourage you to focus on you and what you want. If there is anything this past year of restrictions has taught me, it’s to jump wholeheartedly into doing what you want. Do you want to go back to school? Do you want to change careers? What have you been wanting to do but have been too scared to take that risk? I hope you do what makes your heart happy, something that fuels your soul. I hope you stop to see the beauty in the chaos.
Not everything in life is always as we expect. I encourage you to be patient with yourself. Be patient with life for the things that are out of our control. This year, I encourage you to be a little kinder, a little gentler and loving towards yourself and others.
I encourage you to do 100% what’s best for you. To take the time to discover what you really want in 2021 and completely believe in it, and most of all, believe in yourself.
I encourage you to disengage in the crazy and just breathe and be thankful for the little things. Everything will come along just as the universe has planned for you.
