The YouTube Show Everyone At Thought Catalog Is Obsessed With

By

The first time I heard about Hot Ones someone in my Bravo message group linked to the Andy Cohen episode. I’d never heard of the show and I didn’t even know YouTube had “shows” that were formatted in seasons and episodes just like something on Netflix. At first I was just watching to hearing Bravo gossip, but I sunk into the entire 20 minute clip.

And then I watched a bunch of the other episodes. I was hooked. As soon as I mentioned it in work Slack, I discovered all my coworkers were obsessed with it too.

Each Hot Ones episode consists of an interview with a celebrity while both the host (Sean Evans) and the celebrity guest munch on increasingly spicy chicken wings. Everyone from Charlize Theron Neil deGrasse Tyson to Shawn Mendes has been a guest. My favorites so far have been Tom Colicchio and Padma Lakshmi because I’m obsessed with Top Chef and Tom is my celebrity crush.

I started watching old episodes of Hot Ones every time I was eating a meal at my desk. When I ran out of episodes I watched other First We Feast shows. I loved this episode of The Burger Show with Padma Lakshmi searching for the perfect Jersey burger and learning about regional foods like DC’s Mumbo Sauce on Food Grails.

I don’t know how I didn’t realize before that food shows are the perfect vehicle through which to filter celebrity content. People are real when they are talking about food.

I want to see John Mayer on this show. I want to see Tiffany Haddish on this show. I want to see every celebrity on this show. Get rid of the presidential debates and have people get real over a platter of spicy wings.
