Luann de Lesseps (formerly Countess Luann de Lesseps) of Real Housewives of New York City opened up about what’s changed in her life since she was arrested for disorderly intoxication, trespassing, and resisting arrest (a third degree felony charge) last Christmas Eve.

Luann says she was embarrassed about the arrest and that her previous social drinker had turned into drinking “at least 7 drinks a day” in the wake of her divorce from Tom D’Agostino. She told People “I would have the hair of the dog drink the next day, and drink more, and it didn’t feel good. Alcohol just stopped working for me.”

Since her arrest, she’s gone to treatment and has started meditating and doing yoga.

Happy Sunday all! @theyogashanti #namaste #ohm @msbarbarak

She doesn’t think she is an alcoholic, but says she knows alcohol is not good for her right now and will stay sober until she is in a better place.

I actually super respect Luann for being honest and forthcoming about her previous habits. Brushing it under the rug or downplaying it might make her look better, but talking about real numbers helps people understand what’s normal and what is a problem in their own lives.

Luann will be in court again April 13. She could spend time in jail if she’s convicted. We’re rooting for you Luann! TC mark
