Dolls have always been creepy, and the elf on the shelf is an iteration that always made sense as the subject of the horror movie. The Elf on the Shelf originated as a children’s story about an omniscient, omnipresent Elf doll who is always watching and reporting a child’s actions to Santa Clause. It was always only a matter of time before the Elves turned evil.
The plot of The Elf will follow a man as he inherits a toy shop where he discovers a cursed doll anxious to go on a holiday killing spree.
