Here Are All The Horror Movies We’re Excited For In The Second Half Of 2017

We’ve already said it but 2017 is one of the best years for horror in memory. Not only is the year full of highly-anticipated movies, but their success (It broke a box office record, opening at $117 million) bodes well for the future of the genre.

Here’s a look at what’s still to come in the second half of the year:

Mother! — September 15

The trailer for this Darren Aronofsky psychological horror movie leave the plot details a little muddy, but it seems to be some kind of home invasion story. However, given Aronofsky’s catalog, I’d be willing to take the risk no matter how iffy the trailer looked.

Jeepers Creepers 3 — September 26

***EDIT*** A reader has made me aware of Jeepers Creepers director Victor Salva’s sex offender status, as confirmed by his wikipedia page. I’m no longer recommending that Creepy Catalog readers see this movie, but I’ll leave this edit here so you understand why.

Flatliners — September 29

Ellen Page and Nina Dobrev star in the sequel to the 1990 film of the same name. This one looks much more disturbing.

Gerald’s Game — September 29

This Stephen King book was previously thought to be “unfilmable”. It takes place at a secluded cabin in Maine and shows what happens after a woman accidentally kills her husband while she is handcuffed to the bed. You won’t even need a ticket to see this one, it hits Netflix at the end of the month.

Better Watch Out — October 6

Originally titled Safe Neighborhood this movie has billed itself as a “far from normal” horror film following Olivia DeJonge as a babysitter in suburbia trying to keep her charges safe for the night.

Happy Death Day — October 13

A morbid version of Groundhog’s Day, this movie centers on a teenager who discovers she’s living her death day over and over until she can stop it.

The Snowman — October 13

A horror/crime thriller following the manhunt for a killer who strikes when it snows.

Leatherface — October 20

A prequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Jigsaw — October 27

The 8th installment in the Saw franchise, Jigsaw centers on a new series of puzzling murders that begin over a decade after the Jigsaw killer’s death.

My Friend Dahmer — November 3

Based on a 2012 graphic novel, My Friend Dahmer follows the author’s teenage friendship with the prolific serial killer.

Murder on the Orient Express — November 10

A big budget adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic.

Amityville: The Awakening — ????

The new Amityville installment has been complete since 2014 but has had trouble finding a release date, even with Bella Thorne as the star. The film was released in June 2017 in Ukraine and Central America and was released in the Phillippines in August 2017, so it’s only a matter of time before it’s (finally) released in the US.
