4 Reasons You Should Date A Pre-Med

When I tell people I am pre-med, they think that all I care about is studying. Although grades are important, I also care about other things, especially finding someone to share my days with. Yes, I have fully booked schedules 8am-6pm Monday through Friday. But that doesn’t make me a robot and it doesn’t mean I don’t have time for dating. Pre-meds are humans too and we are capable of and want companionship with another human. So maybe it’s time to reconsider before writing off someone just because he/she is pre-med. There’s a really good chance that they are just what you were looking for.

DISCLAIMER: I know the points below don’t apply to every pre-med out there but the main point is give everyone a chance. Never write anyone off until you have taken the chance to get to know him/her. People will surprise you.

1. We will always make time for you.

Any good pre-med knows that time is made. How do you think we hold multiple lab positions, volunteer at the free clinic, perform with our dance crew, and get straight A’s? Time management is our superpower. If we want to do something, time is made. When it comes to relationships, you can bet that if we like you enough to be dating you, we will make time for date night and study breaks. We will make you a priority.

2. We don’t waste your time.

One of my personal pet peeves is tardiness. Why did you tell me dinner at 6 when you planned to show up at 6:30? Pre-meds won’t be late. When you’re trying to balance so many things, time is precious. We made time to spend Friday night with you so we are going to show up on time and make sure that we get to be with you as much as possible.

3. We treat our bodies well.

One thing pre-meds care about is health. With that being said, we practice what we preach. Eating healthy and regular exercise are habits we live by. We don’t try to become supermodels or Olympic athletes, but we do adopt their mentality toward our bodies. It really is magical how we are even alive and we appreciate that. So we would be happy to be your gym buddy and cook you delicious yet healthful dinners.

4. We are passionate and compassionate.

Pre-meds are extremely driven individuals who are not afraid to chase their dreams at the risk of losing everything. The obstacles we must face while trying to get into medical school are ridiculously difficult. Moreover, the process is unpredictable. You may have all the right numbers, activities, and experiences but there is still a chance for you to not get in anywhere. At that point, the last three years of your life would have been a little pointless. But even with that knowledge, we still choose this path. Pre-meds truly embody the saying “Do it with passion or not at all.” As a result, we will inspire and encourage you to do the same. We will be the first one to get excited with you when you come up with a new idea. We will help you map out everything you need to do to succeed. If things don’t quite work out, we will be there to comfort you and help you find the strength to push forward. We know how hard it is to chase your dreams but we will accompany every step of the way. TC mark
