Woman Films Park Ranger Dancing On His Job, Gets Him Fired

In Chattanooga, a park ranger was fired for dancing on the job. Melissa Parsons caught the man dancing his heart out, resulting in his termination.

Parsons, who recorded it and uploaded the video to YouTube, “couldn’t believe [her] eyes” when Deryl Nelson, the ranger in question, started dancing in uniform.

“I have no problem with people having a little fun, but not on a job, and certainly not in a public safety role.” Parsons said. She also added, “As a parent and seeing all the parents that were covering their kids eyes and turning their heads away, it wasn’t something you would expect to see in Coolidge Park or anywhere from a grown man, especially a man in uniform.”

The park fired Nelson on grounds that his actions were “conduct unbecoming a park employee.” Public sentiment, however, is the opposite, with many disagreeing with Nelson’s termination.
