In what may be the asshole move of the week, a soldier’s girlfriend (now ex) decided to sell his dog, a three-year-old Shiba Inu named Baxter, on Craigslist without consulting him (or his blessing).
The soldier didn’t get the chance to stop the “transaction” and word broke out after a Facebook group was created to help locate the dog. The dog was found to be in the care of a military family with children.
The family is “reluctant” to give up the dog because their children became “attached” to the dog. (What about the actual owner of the dog that raised him when Baxter was a puppy?)
There is a reward for the dog and the family has been offered more than $10,000 for the shiba.
The Facebook page, “Help Bring Baxter Home 2014” has over 2,000 likes in just a few days. It’s helped raise over $700 in reward money, which Robby is willing to double. The family has been offered $14,000, and the Colorado Shiba Inu rescue has even stepped in, offering to help them find a new dog.
No word from the girlfriend as to what she spent the money on, but she’s certainly under fire from people for this insensitive move.
