20 Life Tips I’d Like To Share With You After Turning 20

  1. The world, shockingly, doesn’t revolve around you.
  2. People come and go. You will outgrow them and that is completely normal and healthy. The ones that matter will somehow always be there.
  3. When a problem seems really big, sleep on it and see how you feel in the morning.
  4. If you are really angry with someone, the best thing to do is to try and forgive him or her, as it will damage you otherwise.
  5. Everyone is dealing with their own issues, so you should always be mindful before judging someone.
  6. Positivity is definitely drawn to positivity. You can’t expect the world around you to make you happy when you aren’t happy with yourself.
  7. There is a certain beauty in sadness. It makes you more receptive.
  8. Don’t go over the past and keep knocking yourself for not having tried harder. You did your best at the time.
  9. Make more time for family; in the end they are the ones that love you unconditionally and they won’t be around forever.
  10. Love is an idea, you don’t love someone but you love the thought of being with them.
  11. Never abandon things that make you happy. I used to play the piano and make a lot of art, I stopped for a while and it made me very confused about who I am as a person.
  12. Never forget where you are from. It is easy to get absorbed by the luxuries of today, but remembering how you got there in the first place makes you humble.
  13. Don’t worry too much. Anxiety can sometimes get the better of you, but removing yourself from the situation and letting things develop in their own natural course can save you a lot of stress.
  14. Don’t take things for granted and enjoy the moment. Sometimes we get comfortable with certain situations or people in our lives. Unfortunately life isn’t permanent and things will always change. Appreciate the now and cherish the memories.
  15. Make effort with friendships. Don’t expect the other person to always try and maintain your relationship, it’s a two way street.
  16. Don’t do anything out of feeling sorry for others, while knowing deep down that you don’t want to do it. It will go against your better judgement and ultimately make you unhappy.
  17. Money isn’t everything. Of course, it helps to be financially secure and have nice things, but it isn’t the be-all and end-all.
  18. Don’t moan about things and never do anything about them. You will just grind on everyone’s gears and feel very unproductive.
  19. Don’t leave things until the last minute. I have played with fire when it comes to deadlines and one time I got really ill and couldn’t finish the task. It was a valuable lesson but I never want to face that embarrassment again,
  20. Put yourself first when it comes to happiness. If something is making you unhappy either do something about it or remove it from your life.
