After All This Time You Will Find Peace Within Yourself

Keghan Crossland

After a while something incredible happens, you stop believing what the little voice in your head has been telling you. “You’re not good enough, you’re not worth it, you don’t belong here, you’re a mistake, you’re never going to make it.” You shut your eyes for a little while, you drop your fears and you let go. You let go of all the negativity that has been daunting you for so long. You feel free to be who you want to be, who you really want to be. You don’t have to keep pretending that you’re happy, you don’t have to keep smiling just to prove others that you’re happy, because now you’re genuinely happy.

Now, after all those days when you thought nothing could change your life, it did. You started seeing life with a whole new perspective, the tears you cried washed your eyes and allowed you to see something wonderful, something you hadn’t seen in a long time. You look at yourself in the mirror and you smile, you genuinely smile, because now you’ve found peace, peace with yourself, and you’ve accepted yourself, flaws and all. You realize flaws are what makes you unique and wonderful. You’re happy now, and that’s all it matters.

Nothing people say or do will bring you down. After all the times that they try to belittle you or tell you you were not worth it, after all the tears you shed because of them, after all the time you stare at yourself in the mirror with disgust, after all of that, you have come to realize what’s really important in life and most importantly, who is really important.

It is okay if you feel insecure or down once in awhile, after all, we are human; but what’s not okay is feeling that you are not good enough because someone or something made you feel that way. You are good enough, you have always been good enough. Let self love shine through and made its way to your beautiful self. Let it impregnate in you and do not let it leave, do not let it leave because it is yours and no one else. So go on, smile, laugh, be brave, and most importantly be you own self.
