Back In 2005, When YouTube Was First Starting Out, Canon Rock Ruled The Airwaves

Let’s rewind the clock nine years, back to 2005. When YouTube had just been founded. An anonymous user named guitar90 uploaded a video with the description: “this guy iz great!!!” It was of a man playing the shit out of Canon Rock, written by Jerry C. It was discovered that Lim Jeong-hyun, a South Korean living in New Zealand did the cover that guitar90 had uploaded to YouTube. The video went on to be viewed more than 90 million times until it was deleted by YouTube. funtwo (Lim) emerged from the shadows to re-upload the video. Lim now composes his own music, but still performs covers of well-known pieces. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
