I Will Never Starve My Creativity

By

My artist will not starve

She exists within me
Feeding on the fruit of life
She sleeps with one eye open
Careful not to miss a thing
Her stained blue lips remind her
Of how she kissed the sky that day
She savors every moment of it

My artist will not starve

Fuelled by her hunger for life
Every time she has been broken
The times she has fallen in love
These moments feed her
And with that she consumes

My artist will not starve

She comes alive at night
As the match strikes
The candle is lit
Igniting the incense
Lavender fills the room
Red wine streams into her glass
The words flow out of her
When her eyes fill with tears
She catches her colorful droplets
And paints the world in watercolor
She is the part of me that hurts
That falls in love
She takes her broken pieces
Putting them back together
To create something else
This is how she stays alive
She sees her scars as stories
Moments are her catalyst
Poison to potion
She forgives easily
She learned the hard way
That pain created a part of her
A part she began to feed off
She won’t stop writing

My artist will not starve

When she begins to crave
She closes her eyes
And flicks through her memories
As if they were caught on film
Only with a sweet naivety
She holds them in the light
Leaving them overexposed
Creating perfect imperfections

My artist will not starve

She seeks the beauty in the broken
Saturated by the colors
She dances in the garden
Her mind lets her be
All that surrounds her
Her core becomes a stem
She spins with her eyes closed
Her fingers form petals
She is blossoming
So long as she can feel
She feeds on life

My artist will not starve
