It Might Not Work Out (But That’s Okay)

I’m going to give you some tough love: it might not work out.

You might move in hopes of starting over, and never find your dream job in that city. You might make all the sacrifices in the world for someone who never considered making you a priority. You might sell everything you own and head overseas, and still not find what you’re looking for.

But that’s okay.

When we reflect on our lives, we end up thinking about two things: the chances we took, or those we didn’t.

What kind of life do you want to reflect on?

Most people are afraid to take a leap of faith to try something new. Eventually you’ve got to give up some sense of comfort to chase something new and unfamiliar.

You may like your job, but you also feel like something more is calling you. You may have had your heart badly broken. But does that mean you should never give love another try?

With no guarantee of it working out, take the chance. Buy the ticket. Go on the date. Start over.

In the end it’s not the paychecks you’ll remember, but instead your memories. Don’t be afraid to give yourself the chance to make them. Don’t be afraid to let new people in.

I think too often we stand in our own way, by learning to exist rather than live. We care too much about what others think, that we are sometimes too afraid to follow our own dreams.

Just remember at the end of the day that this is your own life. Sometimes things won’t work out the way you want them to, but at the very least they’ll create one hell of a story to tell your future grandkids. If not for you, then do it for the sake of their future bedtime stories.
