One Day I’ll Meet You Under The Mistletoe

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what your name is or what you look like. I don’t know what the color of your eyes are, nor do I know if your hair is brown or blonde. I don’t know if freckles are painted across your face. I don’t know what you think of when you close your eyes and drift off at night.

I don’t know how you like your breakfast eggs and I don’t know how crispy you like your bacon. I don’t know what your favorite sweater is, nor do I know if you wear glasses. I don’t know what your favorite memory is and I don’t know where in the world you are right now.

I have no idea why God chose me to be your soulmate.

But what I do know is that I can’t wait to find out what your favorite books are and if you prefer classic literature or modern literature. I can’t wait to find out what makes your nose crinkle with happiness and what makes your toes curl. I can’t wait to find out what dreams keep you up late at night and what nightmares linger in your past.

I know that you will make every horrible little thing that I have experienced worth it. I know that you will be kind and honorable. I know that you will love whole-heartedly. I know that you’ll bake Christmas sugar cookies with me and indulge in my Christmas movie obsession. I know that I will be safe within your arms and that you will embody ‘there is no place like home.’

I know that falling in love with you will be just as magical as watching snowflakes fall at Christmastime.

I know that one day I will meet you under the mistletoe and feel sparks fly when our lips touch. I know that we will spend all our Christmases together and all the days between.

I know that God will show us to each other when He knows we are ready. And I know that one year for Christmas…

I’ll finally have the gift of you.
