The Unedited Truth About Why You Should Center Your Relationship Around God

God is all about love, so there should be no surprise that you should not only revolve your relationship around Him but allow Him to be the foundation of your romance.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 New International Version (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

In many relationships, the real meaning and principles of love are long forgotten. God reminds us of very important lessons about love. Reminding us that true love is never jealous or has its own agenda and therefore our partner, if they truly love us, will trust us wholeheartedly and never expect anything in return when serving us.

With God at the center of your relationship, you are also reminded to allow God to make you whole. With His love, you are made beautiful and complete. With God completing us, we do not feel the compulsion to make our partners our “missing halves.” In this way, God makes our relationship healthier; we acknowledge that there are two individuals in the relationship that stand alone but love each other unconditionally.

“True love never forces.”

William Paul Young, The Shack

If you find yourself in a relationship that you can see lasting, or you want to last, or maybe you think they are the one, take the time to get to know Him. He will guide you into making your relationship stronger and resilient.

“You…were created to be loved. So for you to live as if you were unloved is a limitation, not the other way around… Living unloved is like clipping a bird’s wing and removing its ability to fly… A bird is not defined by being grounded but by his ability to fly. Remember this, humans are defined not by their limitations, but by the intentions I have for them; not by what they seem to be, but by everything it means to be created in my image. Love is NOT the limitation; love is the flying. I AM love. ”
