20 Little Things That Shouldn’t Be Taken For Granted

By

1.

Hearing a smile in someone’s voice when they are genuinely excited to hear from you.

2.

Spending quiet moments with someone you love in the wee hours of the night; sharing a laugh, cuddling in silence or listening to them snore or talk in their sleep.

3.

A solid nap in the middle of the afternoon.

4.

The moment a song transports you to another space and time in an instant.

5.

Ice-cold water on a hot summer day.

6.

Waking up in the middle of the night feeling rested and realizing that you have hours until your alarm goes off.

7.

A New Year’s Eve kiss at midnight.

8.

The feeling of taking off your bra after a long day. (The fellas may not fully appreciate this, but I know that the ladies will.)

9.

When your parents steal a glance (or a grab) when they think no one is watching.

10.

The smell of rain after a summer thundershower.

11.

The feeling of euphoria when someone washes your hair.

12.

Laughing so hard that you cry.

13.

The strong sense of love you can see when you glance at the groom as the bride makes her way down the aisle.

14.

Singing in your car at the top of your lungs.

15.

Crawling into a freshly made bed.

16.

Gazing at the stars on a clear night, either while cuddled up with someone on a cool winter night or laying on the grass on a warm summer night.

17.

Compliments from total strangers.

18.

Lazy days spent in your pajamas.

19.

The smell of freshly baked bread.

20.

Realizing that you are never really alone and there is at least one other person in the same situation, good or bad. Blessings and tragedies are never exclusive.

I’m sure that your list won’t be identical to mine, but take a moment and think about a list of your own. It will put your day and maybe your life into perspective, because sometimes those little things are actually the big things.
