I took my clothes off and crowded with a group of strange women into a small dilapidated sauna in the north woods. We cheered for each other and clapped and giggled and told secrets and dripped sweat until we couldn’t stand it. We took turns opening the door to burst into the cold night and leap into this dark lake.
I surfaced like I was coming into the world for the first time.
