How Did Robin Williams Impact Your Life?

I’ve been thinking about death a lot lately. Nothing unusual, just the standard every other year what-is-my-life-actually-about existential cycle. To that end I recently came across this Oprah quote that was incredibly soothing:

Your legacy is what you do everyday. Your legacy is every life you’ve touched. It’s every person who’s life was either moved or not. It’s every person you’ve harmed or helped. That’s your legacy. So I don’t try to think about it. I just live it.

Actors have the ability to touch more lives than most — because we experience them through the characters they play. And unlike other celebrity deaths that we may experience at more of a distance, Williams took advantage of this potential and his death is personal for many. Reading Twitter and Facebook tonight, I’ve seen so many people share stories about how they were touched by Williams’ performance in Patch Adams, Birdcage, Being Human, Dead Poet’s Society, Good Will Hunting and even purely light-hearted roles like in Aladdin and Peter Pan.
