I Am Finally Ready To Find My Forever Person

By

I am not looking for you to complete me. I’ve already done the work. I’ve stayed up countless anxious nights trying to figure out how to overcome life’s unexpected gut punches. I’ve walked alone in search of how to repair broken bones and bleeding wounds.

It’s taken time and effort but at long last, I’ve arrived. I’m now in the position to open my chest to love. My arms are outstretched, palms up, in anticipation of your arrival.

My broken bones are now healed and bound together stronger than they were before they were shattered. My wounds have transformed into scars that are openly displayed on my once unblemished skin.

I am ready for you. But you’re not going to complete me, you’re going to help me complete myself and I’m going to do the same thing for you.

We are going to push each other to be better than we’ve ever been before. I’m going to watch you grow and I’ll be proud of your every achievement, no matter how big or small.

I will have your back. I will always take a chance on you even if you don’t want to take a chance on yourself.

If you fall, I will fall with you. I will lie in the dirt with you, hold you, and tell you how much I love you and how proud I am of who you are.

We will love each other, not in despite of, but because of our unique intricacies, battlefield scars, and loose threads that may never be sewn back together. It’s all of these things that make me love you even more.

You’ll also learn to love all of the annoying things about me – the pile of socks I throw on the side of the bed when I get hot at night, my inability to complete a book before starting a new one, and the ridiculous number of hours I spend researching something before I buy it.

I want to fall asleep in the security of your arms at night, my head softly rested on your heart listening to every deliberate beat. The sound of your heartbeat will be a reminder of our liveliness and how amazing it is that we’ve made a choice to be here, to have the privilege of sharing this space together.

I will be grateful for all those who have preceded me. They are an important part of who you are and who you’ve become. They’ve broken your heart and you’ve broken theirs.

But they were placed there so you could experience pain, love, heartache, and everything in between. These are important chapters in your book that cannot be forgotten.

Each person who came in and out of your life was strategically placed there so that you could be here with me now. And for that, I am eternally grateful.

Our relationship will not be perfect. There will be days when our egos will block our love. We will lay it all out, explode, and love again. We will vow never to use our tongues as daggers and most importantly we will never go to bed angry.

Every morning I will open my eyes and see your beautiful face backlit by the morning sun and be grateful that you’re in my life. Every day, no matter how stressful my day may be, will start off with a smile.

To my future soulmate, I want to thank you in advance for loving me. Thank you for seeing the beauty in me that no one else can see. You too, are a masterpiece and I’m your biggest fan.
