This Is The One Thing You Need In Order To Grow And Find Happiness

By

I’ve been asked a lot in the past about how I was able to get to where I am, how I overcame depression.

I’ve been asked a lot about how I was able to move past my suicide attempt, and how I could be so okay talking about it on such a public platform.

Over the past few months, I have had some humbling opportunities to write for some amazing publications and begin bringing my story and experiences to a larger audience, to people that need to hear it.

I have been through my fair share (and then some), but the truth is, there are a lot of people who go through a lot worse and have a lot less to live for. My goal from day one was to leave an impact on someone’s life, to make sure that they know they aren’t alone in all of this.

Ultimately I think there is one thing that has played a massive impact in my life, it is the one thing I wish I could give to everyone.

Self-awareness is the only way to grow and find your happiness.

Once you become really self-aware, in every aspect of your life, you are able to put things into perspective.

When you put everything in your life into perspective the way you go about situations or see certain things will completely change. When you are able to see all the good you have going for you, even the smallest things, you begin to put the more insignificant things to the side.

I am so grateful for everything I have.

At 19-years-old I have a pretty nice car, a very nice apartment, a family who loves me, a career I love, amazing bosses to work for, and I have my life.

Maybe it’s because I almost lost my life to depression that I am able to be a bit more grateful for all the things that seem so ordinary to many of us.

Maybe it is because at one point I didn’t have any of it, or maybe it is simply because I’ve always wanted it, and worked for it, so now that I have it I want to recognize it.

When you are grateful for all the good you have, it becomes a lot harder to let a few bad things ruin your day. It also is a lot harder to give up when you know what you have.

I work as much as I do not only for the success of the companies I work for, but for my own well-being. My work isn’t just my job, it is my life. My work is what gave me all the good I have now, it is the thing that allowed me to change the path I was going on.

Get really aware of who you are and what you have, then get grateful for all of it. That is my advice.

I’m grateful for my depression, for my suicide attempts, for my struggles and downfalls.

All of the things that made me question my life also gave me it.

I love the things I have, the work I do, the people I know, and the happiness I feel, because of all of that I am willing to sacrifice a lot not to lose it.

I don’t know if self-awareness is something that can be learned, but if it can be, I would implore you to learn it.

Self-awareness is the thing that opens up the doors to happiness. It gives you a new perception, shows you how grateful you should be, and allows you to be happy with who you are.

Care more. Be grateful for it all.
