Fascism Has Come To The United States

The United States has a problem, and it’s time to stop pussyfooting around it. Fascism has come to the United States in the form of Donald Trump’s presidency. And no. Labeling Donald Trump and his government as fascist isn’t name-calling. I recently read a thread on Twitter, and it’s helpful in explaining why our current fascist problem is serious. Obviously, violence is wrong. That being said, the time for civil discourse with Trump and his MAGA cult supporters is over. According to the Twitter thread, that’s what Trump, Trump’s government, and his followers are counting on. They want to reframe the discourse so people will be more outraged when Democrats use profanity about Trump/Trump supporters than at what is really happening in the United States. And that would be a mistake. Trump and his MAGA cult have lost all right to the moral high ground after all the terrible lies they’ve said about Obama and Hillary in addition to their racist, bigoted views. I mean, for God’s sake, the only reason Doug Jones won in Alabama is because of black voters. More white people voted for Roy Moore over Doug Jones, proving that white identity politics is still at play. Anyway, it’s time to dissect the United States’ fascist problem because more Americans should be outraged about the 2,000 something migrant children being separated from their parents.

People need to realize that seeking asylum isn’t a crime. Therefore, there’s no good reason to be separating migrant children from their parents. If it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, then it’s a duck. With the 2,000 children, I’m referring to how Donald Trump is a pathological liar by saying the situation is because of the Democrats in addition to how they must fix the situation. If you are interested in reading more about that falsehood, then you can do that here. So, labeling Donald Trump a pathological liar is fair. The statement about the Democrats isn’t just about spin; it’s a blatant lie. However, his MAGA cult will devour it. Trump could say that oxygen is unhealthy, and they’d believe him. No shock necessary, though. Trump is taking a page from the Nazi playbook. The Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels was the one who believed in blaming the other side for what you’re guilty of.

Unfortunately, the detained 2,000 something migrant children situation gets worse. It reinforces how Donald Trump is a fascist. Like I’ve said before, this is real life, not a game. As a result, we shouldn’t being see how close we can get to being like Nazi Germany. The United States currently resembles 1930’s Nazi Germany because the Nazis locked people up unlawfully before they committed genocide. One only needs to look at how a breastfeeding baby was taken away from its mother. I mean, that’s just low. And then the fact that parents are being told their children are just being taken to the showers should be an alarm bell. So, go ahead. I’ll give you a second to think about what lie that parallels from the past. It is also helpful to realize that reporters were told by workers at the “concentration camps” (where some of the migrant children are being held) to smile at the children because they felt like animals. Therefore, people shouldn’t get wrapped up in the semantics of how migrant children aren’t being murdered like the Nazis did to the Jews and others who were sent to death camps. The dehumanization intent is still there. Just like Hitler and the Nazis wanted to dehumanize Jews, Trump and his regime want to dehumanize the asylum-seeking families and their children. And it’s shameful.

The detainment gets worse. If you still aren’t convinced that the detention of the migrant children represents fascism in the United States, then consider how there’s a mural to Trump. The mural to Trump at one of the detention facilities isn’t appropriate. Sorry, but in the United States, people don’t need subliminal messaging of blind loyalty. Nothing good can come of drinking the Trump Kool-Aid, and being part of the MAGA cult.

Also, people must consider the alleged abuse of the migrant children. If you are interested in reading more about that, then look here. What exactly the implications are remained to be seen, though.

It isn’t enough to consider how the internment of the migrant children is the equivalent of concentration camps in the United States. People must also consider how ICE is the US version of the Gestapo. Harsh truths once again must be clearly stated. Talking around the issue and being in denial will help nobody. The reality is, ICE isn’t just going after criminals. They’re abusing their authority. There’s a lot to unpack about ICE because this article would be dozens of pages if every abuse was mentioned. So, if you want to read about one such ICE abuse, then look here.

Furthermore, people shouldn’t be surprised about these current horrors of what Trump is doing. Trump might be a lot of things, but he was honest about his feelings of people who aren’t white when he called Mexicans rapists when launched his presidential campaign back in 2015. Trump also showed his true colors when he peddled the phony birtherism conspiracy against Obama. Because there’s no doubt he wouldn’t have done that to a white person.

People must also consider who Trump has surrounded himself with. Like Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka, and Stephen Miller. No elaborate rant necessary about Steve Bannon. Most people must know about his relationship to Breibart News. But what a lot of people might not know is that Sebastian Gorka is connected to a Hungarian Nazi group (Vitezi Ren) in addition to how Stephen Miller’s racist views about immigrants date back to his days at college. Surely, it can’t be a coincidence with who Trump surrounds himself. What’s that saying? Oh, yeah. Birds of a feather flock together.

The attitude, “it can’t happen here” isn’t helpful, though. Whether people like it or not, fascism has come to the United States. In addition to considering the detained children and abuses by ICE, one must also consider how Trump’s regime is investigating stripping naturalized citizens of their citizenship under the guise how some people might have cheated the process. Likely, this is another hoax. However, the issue is still serious. Before the Nazi genocide began, Hitler stripped German Jews of their citizenship.

Ultimately, Trump’s presidency stopped being funny ages ago. So, I’ll leave you with this thought. Yes. The future is uncertain. But what is clear is that we all should know who Trump is by now, and there’s no good reason to support his MAGA cult. Just look at Trump’s rallies. Sorry, but the job of president is to lead, not hold rallies. Because guess what? The Nazis also held inflammatory rallies. Anyway, everyone needs to take a long look in the mirror. If Trump can treat the children like animals and ICE can abuse their power, then he can also come for others. Like Muslims, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. Because that’s the scary thing. Atrocities don’t happen overnight. They occur after an environment has been created that makes them acceptable. Like with Otherism, and the “us versus them” mentality by dehumanizing someone who comes from a different background. So, I ask you this. Whose side are you on? Because in the words of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, neutrality always helps the oppressor, not the victim.
