Today I came across a year-old New Zealand ad that perfectly illustrates how we can all play a role in preventing unwanted sexual advances. The “Who Are You” campaign hopes to empower bystanders by showing them how easy it is to step in when they’re concerned that someone else might be in a dangerous situation.
I see myself in this video, and you probably will too. You’re the girl who’s had too much to drink, or the guy in line who senses something’s off, or the friend who doesn’t know whether to step in or mind her own business. As the weekend approaches, this video serves as a great reminder that we could all stand to watch each other’s backs and speak up.
