What Your Favorite Fall Outfit Says About You

By

Whether or not we realize it, we are all deeply defined by the kinds of outfits we choose to typify a particular season. In the summer, crop-top and high-rise shorts girls are the sworn enemies of the sundress community. In the winter, it’s a battle to the death between the pea coats and the puffer coats. And fall, everyone’s favorite season (or, at least, it should be) is by far the best time to show your true colors with your choice of ensemble. Here, what your favorite fall outfit says about you.

1. Mixing every somber color known to man.

You are all about the navy blue with the dark grey with the black with the brown, and nary a pastel hater can slow your roll. You like the more abstract things in life, and have a Daria-esque disposition that is only enhanced by the presence of grey clouds, dropping temperatures, and dying trees. If someone were to see you in the dark, they would assume that you were wearing all black. But, ah, no! When they get a better look, they will find that, much like your heart, your ensemble is a veritable impressionist painting of dark colors.

2. Black on black on black on black.

You’re like the above person, except more goth. Also, you may have seen The Craft one too many times.

3. Brown riding boots, skinny jeans, and a knit sweater.

Your life is a Pinterest board, and you are floating through it with all of the effortless refinement that everyone is secretly jealous of. You have mastered the art of making a chunky knit sweater somehow look more chic and less potato-like, and chances are very high that you also have shiny, long hair. While your tastes may be on the safe side — and, let’s be honest, you’ve seen the business end of many a pumpkin spice latte — you’re of the opinion that if something isn’t broke, you don’t fix it.

4. Pumpkin spice-based clothing.

There are those whose fair-weather love for all things pumpkin begin and end with candles and coffee. But then there are those who, like you, base a significant amount of their personality on the Gourd Love. Whether it’s a creamy orange scarf, a pastel rust jacket, or a pair of squash-colored tights, yours is a commitment that won’t quit. You’re someone who takes things seriously in life, be it school or work or how much you love pumpkins. It’s a tough life, but a rewarding one, if you are strong enough to follow it.

5. A navy blue or emerald blazer with a scarf.

Your Ivy League swag comes into full effect when foliage is at its peak. You are all about the crisp, traditional attractiveness that only a blazer can bring, and you may or may not be partial to a nice gold crest on the breast pocket. Your biggest crush is Armie Hammer in The Social Network, and you hold a deep appreciation for the sports of crew and tennis. You’re a diplomatically nice person, of course, but you take a long time to warm up to new people. Once they’re in the blazer-clad, circle, though — that bond is for life.

6. A jewel-tone dress and tights.

You are the Zooey Deschanel of the autumn fashion world, and you’re not going to let a little nippy weather stop you from being sickeningly precious. Some of your favorite hobbies are making gingerbread men and giving them names and personas and then feeling too attached to eat them, and riding down the street on your robin’s egg blue bike. Also, while the tights do serve a practical purpose, you have to admit that you do get incredibly excited at the prospect of wearing what are essentially sweaters down the length of your leg.

7. A crop-top and miniskirt.

Woah, girl, aren’t you cold?? You must be so cold right now. Also, please speak up — I can’t hear you, your flawless abs are too loud.
