5 Easy Ways To Make Store-Bought Baking Mixes Look And Taste Better

By

1. Candy:

Have you ever tried Rolos cooked into brownies? If not, you are missing out on the most chocolatey, carmely tasty dessert yet. While you are in the store buying your mix, look in the candy isle too. Candies like Rolos, Reese’s and Kit Kats taste really good baked inside brownies or can be used to decorate the top of cakes and cookies. Get creative. I’ve never tried butterfinger brownies, but I bet they would taste delicious.

2. Chocolate chips/ Sprinkles:

Funfetti kind of does it for you, but if you really want to get festive you can add your own sprinkles or chocolate chips to a cake, brownie, cookie or muffin. Add colorful sprinkles into plain sugar cookie mix and create your own version of Funfetti with whatever colors you want. As for chocolate chips, there are tons of different flavors ranging from caramel, to white chocolate to dark chocolate. Adding these to any mix will help give your dessert a kick. You know those plain blueberry muffin mixes? Well, they taste way better with chocolate chips mixed in.

3. Peanut Butter:

Use a light layer of Peanut Butter as your frosting. If you spread it over the brownie, cake or cookie while it is warm it will melt into a thin layer on top. You can also use almond butter, chunky peanut butter, or if you live near a Trader Joe’s, definitely Cookie Butter.

4. Nutella:

Same as Peanut Butter, except add way more. You can put it on top instead of frosting. You can swirl it into the mix and bake it. You can cut your cake in half and put Nutella between two layers. The options are endless.

5. Oreos:

I’m sure everyone has seen the “Slutty Brownie” with a layer of cookie dough, oreos and then brownie batter on top. This just proves that oreos add a good tasty pizzazz and they are easy to work with. You can put them inside brownies, on top of a cake or muffin or wrap cookie dough around them. They also work really well to put on top of frosting if you crumble them up.
