The Words We Use Become Our Reality, So Choose Wisely

Words are one of the essential ways in which we communicate. They are a tool we use to sculpt our lives. By being mindful of the words we chose to use daily, we can literally change our world.

What we think is the most important factor in manifesting the life we want. The words we choose to communicate our thoughts are the paint that colors our world. That is why words are my obsession.

I first heard the term, “Thoughts are things,” when I was 19 years old from my boyfriend’s mother, Marie. Initially, I didn’t understand exactly what it meant. She was adamant in teaching our gang what this concept was and why it was important.

Diligently, whenever she would hear anyone saying things such as, “That’s killing me,” “Life is so unfair to me,” or ” I can’t do that…,” she would call us on it.

Reminding us that thoughts are things, she would say, “Thoughts become things—choose the good ones! We have the power to create our own world.”

Swiftly, so the thought could not take shape, she would instruct us to say, “Cancel that thought,” or “Erase that thought.” She would stress the importance of actually saying those words out loud.

At one point in my life, I became so paranoid about speaking words that could have an undesired outcome, I literally would take my hand and wipe it side to side as if I was erasing the thought from a chalkboard. I would say out loud, “Cancel that thought.”

As I grew accustomed to the concept, it became my truth.

Our words are the manifestation of our thoughts. They sculpt our lives.

We can create effortless abundance, harmony, love and much more by keeping our intentions clear. Words can be used to mindfully move us forward on our paths.

Or they can close the door on possibilities. I call those words stoppers. Some frequently used ones are “No” and “Can’t.”

They end the conversation, they end the energy, they end the flow.

When the response to a question I have asked is, “I don’t know,” my favorite response is, “If you did know, what would the answer be?”

As funny as it may sound, rephrasing the question back to the person who just gave you a stopper gives permission to the brain allowing for a response to be found.

Try it. It works.

If someone asks me a question, and I answer with, “I don’t know,” I will literally ask myself the question, “Well, Charisse, if you did know, what would you know?” I always come up with something!

Let go of energy stopper words. No, Can’t, Shouldn’t, Couldn’t, Wouldn’t, Won’t, But, Never and Not.

Replace them with words to empower.

Empowering Words are: Worthy, Purposeful, Energetic, Aligning, Abundance, Courageous, Serendipity, Clarity, Passionate, Insightful, Love, Peaceful. Grateful, Thankful, Possible, Appreciative, Effortless, Creative, Cooperative, Accepting, I Can, I Do, I Am.

Being mindful of the words we choose will create the life we always imagined.
