Pajamas Over People: May 3-5, 2013

By

These recommendations are for the weekend: Friday May 3, 2013 thru Sunday May 5, 2013. As an often antisocial, television loving, Internet exploring, self-excluding individual, I feel that the art of being a homebody is an area of my expertise. So, by the powers vested in me, I’d like to officially guide any individuals choosing to remain home this weekend as best as I can. Stock up on two days worth of snacks and drinks, grab your sweatpants, check your Wi-Fi and follow my lead. Let’s form a society or something. We’ll call it HA – Homebody Association. Acronyms are cool, good for us.

Netflix Recommendations (Movie & Television Show):

MOVIE: Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind because I consider myself a massive Jim Carrey fan who has seen most of his movies, including The Number 23, but this one has evaded my view for years, despite hearing tons of high praise. Now is the time to continue my quest to conquer Carrey’s entire IMDB page, and I’d like for you to do it with me.

TV: Heroes, specifically the first season. It was kind of all downhill from there, but that opening season was brilliant. You don’t necessarily have to be a comic book nerd or superhero junkie to enjoy this series. If you appreciate character development, good story lines or just want to watch Hayden Panettiere, surely this is worth trying for the very first time or reliving. Watch it – I guarantee you’ll be trying to move objects with your mind after two or three episodes.

YouTube Surfing:

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2Diy0RNe_c]This prankster/real-life troll goes around asking people the age old question, “Do you even lift?” How this guy has managed to not get beat up I don’t know, but he certainly isn’t avoiding the physically fit looking, muscular dudes. It’s interesting to see how doing so much as insinuating that certain guys have small arms can immediately get the testosterone flowing, and angry words can be exchanged.

On Television:

I’ve already mentioned Happy Endings before, so I won’t mention Happy Endings again. Nope, I won’t remind you that two new episodes of Happy Endings will be airing on ABC. I’m not going to tell you that it’s brilliantly hilarious. Nope, not going to do that… There are also NBA playoffs of ESPN, if you’re a sports fan these are potential elimination games, which makes for great basketball.

Music:

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWZr2F0qohA]I’ll start you off with Safe And Sound by Capital Cities and let you search for more if you so desire. This is an awesome jam, I promise; it’s got a unique, feel-good sound and a video that’ll leave you in a better mood than you were in before watching.

What’s on the menu?:

The other day I wrote some thought provoking investigative journalism in which I ranked cookies, so it’s only right that I recommend a personal favorite — those soft, frosting & sprinkle covered cookies that can be found in most grocery stores. As for a drink, put a spin on the classic cookies and milk buy buying some horchata. It’s basically extra sweet, cinnamon-y rice milk and it’ll make your tastebuds do cartwheels into the gates of heaven. You can score this stuff at Mexican fast food joints or the dairy section of a store and I assure you, it’s the bees knees.
