When The One You Love, Loves Someone Else

I may not be in the right position to act like this because there was never an “us.”

I know I’ll never be brave enough to tell you these things upright, so you’ll probably never know what I feel about you as well.

You can’t always have what you want in life, and that’s okay.

You could have loved me, and I could’ve been her.

We probably would have been happy.

But I love you.

I respect you.

I won’t be selfish.

I accept the fact that I am not her and that’s okay.

Who am I to get mad at you for not loving me back, for loving someone else?

But I love you.

I have loved you from the shadows.

I could have come into the light and claimed you as mine.

I could have told you how I really feel about you, thinking that you probably feel the same way too. Probably.

I love you enough to let you go.

You deserve the most genuine kind of happiness that this world has to offer.

And if you found that kind of happiness with her, it’s okay.

It truly is painful to see the one you love, love someone else.

But if this is the only way for me to be able to see you smile every day, then it’s okay. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
