15 Truths I Learned The Hard Way (So You Don’t Have To)

By

1. Always make sure you exert more love into the world than hate.

The energy you input into the world is reciprocated. Everything you do will eventually come back to you, because what goes around comes back around.

2. Don’t confuse attachment with love.

Being attached to someone doesn’t necessarily mean you love them. Understand your feelings so that you are not intoxicated by them. Sometimes, when we feel emotionally empty, we tend to cling onto anything that will even temporarily fill that void in order to gain emotional safety. Understand that true love never comes from a place of emptiness.

3. Never lose yourself in the midst of loving someone.

Stay woke at every moment of your life. Do not let love blind you. Know your worth and understand that self love is a vessel. We give only from what’s already inside of us.

4. Learn to compromise.

You can’t have everything. Your priorities say everything about you. The key to a happy life is satisfaction.

5. All you have is now.

Don’t waste your present by living in the past or waiting for the future. Understand that nothing in the world is guaranteed. Time is the only thing you can never get back.

6. Take the risk or lose the chance.

Seize every moment of your life and make it golden. Whatever you do you’ll end up regretting, so always go with the choice that makes your heart beat a little faster. Better an oops than a what if.

7. “Forever” is a conspiracy theory.

Don’t live in a fairytale. Be realistic and you’ll save yourself a lot of heartbreak.

8. Vulnerability is the key to people’s hearts.

If someone is vulnerable with you, it means they trust you. Know when to be vulnerable and with whom. Bending is better than breaking. When you are confused about any situation, always trust your gut feeling. Our hearts can’t deceive us like our minds. It’s in our human nature that feelings are raw and honest, it’s our mind that can play games. Trust your heart and know that energy never lies.

9. Find what you love and live for it.

Find your thing. Pursue it. This ‘thing’ will drive you out of bed with passion and zest for life every morning. Engage in the things you love fully. You give life to what you give energy to.

10. Never lose sight of who you are.

Know your worth. A person who knows his own value will never be easily affected by others opinions. Be the judge of your life. Seek advice but do not be consumed by it. You become very dangerous and powerful when you know how to control your emotions and thoughts.

11. Understand that patience is a virtue.

Never lose faith. Trust God, the universe, and the greater good. Things always have a way of working themselves out, all they need is time and patience.

12. Be a person of action.

Do not be fooled by words unless they are accompanied by actions. Honesty is rare, and actions always prove why words mean nothing.

13. Do not be fooled by appearances.

What people choose to show you doesn’t truly reflect what’s inside of them.

14. Healing is not linear.

Ask yourself: Are you healed or are you just distracted? Anything you put aside will eventually find its way back to you. The only way out is through. You can’t escape from your thoughts and feelings. Be selective and picky with your thoughts, and do not let your mind consume you and drag you to dark places, but make sure you feel what you need to feel, then let it go. Feelings that are avoided will not vanish. Face them and release them.

15. Understand that the opposite of love isn’t hate.

The opposite of love is indifference. If you’re confused about where something stands in your life, ask yourself how you feel about it. Understand your feelings. Hate and anger are just as powerful as love and pleasure. The only things that don’t matter in your life are the things you truly feel indifferent to.
