Sorry, ‘The Rock’ Won’t Be Running For President In 2020

By

Back in May last year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson blew up the Internet when he revealed he was seriously considering running for President of the United States. But if you were hoping to vote for The Fast and Furious actor in 2020, then boy, do I have some bad news for you.

Vanity Fair reported that at the New York premiere of Skyscraper, The Rock admitted that there was no way he was going to be able to run for president due to his current filming schedule (and, you know, his lack of political experience).

“Unfortunately I don’t see it happening in 2020,” Johnson said. “It’s a position that requires years of hard work and experience to learn the skills. There’s a lot of ground to cover, and due to my schedule, it’s not possible in 2020. I have so much respect for the position. It’s something that I seriously considered. What I need is time to go out and learn.”

It’s not a huge surprise when you actually look at Johnson’s film schedule. He has three films set to come out in 2019 (Fighting With My Family, Hobbs & Shawand Jungle Cruise), not to mention he’s the new father of a baby girl. He’s got a lot on his plate even without campaigning, which is basically a full-time job in itself.

But personally, I’m glad The Rock decided to pump the brakes on his political career until he’s properly educated. As much as I respect him as a person, I’m not sure I’m ready to put another unqualified entertainer into office so soon.
