Here’s Why Meghan Markle Won’t Have A Maid Of Honor

By

T-minus 15 days till the royal wedding!!! Royal enthusiasts (or, you know, wedding enthusiasts) have been waiting for this day all year, especially with so many details under wraps (for instance: wtf is going on with Meghan Markle’s family?) But one mystery has finally been solved: who the Maid of Honor will be. And the answer is absolutely no one.

For the past few months, rumors have been flying around about who would be the lucky gal to stand next to Markle at her wedding. First rumors circulated about Canadian stylist and wedding expert Jessica Mulroney; later, others suggested it might be Meghan’s college best friend, writer Lindsay Jill Roth. In the end, Markle decided on neither.

But it’s not supposed to be a slap in the face. In reality, Meghan just loved everyone so much she couldn’t choose. Kensington Palace released a statement that gave the full details:

“She has a very close-knit circle of friends and she didn’t want to choose one over another. All have been actively involved in helping her prepare for the day and will be there in the days beforehand. She’s very happy to have their support.”

Which is actually super understandable, if I’m being honest. The thought of having to choose my own Maid of Honor gives me a straight-up panic attack, and I’m not even a socialite. I can’t imagine having so many close friends to choose from.

Kensington Palace reps also clarified that Meghan’s parents would both play a role in the wedding, despite rumors of the contrary.

“Both of the bride’s parents will have important roles in the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, Ms. Ragland will travel with Ms. Markle by car to Windsor Castle. Mr. Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George’s Chapel. Ms. Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion.”

With the wedding only weeks away, everything’s finally starting to fall into place. Personally, I just can’t wait to see Megan’s dress.
