Just two days after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead, one astute security guard may have stopped another from happening across the country.

According to authorities, a security guard at El Camino High School in Whittier, California overheard a disgruntled student threaten to open fire in school last week after he had a disagreement with a teacher over his headphones, which were not allowed in class. He said he was going to go home and bring back a gun.

The security guard alerted the school, who investigated the 17-year-old student. Deputies searched the teen’s home and found multiple guns and ammunition, though it’s unclear where the student attained the weapons.

It’s unclear whether the student has been arrested or if he will be punished, according to CBS Los Angeles.
