The rest of America stand upWe love our military, and we love our countryBut we fucking hate Trump.
You know things are turning to shit when Eminem has to step up and become a beacon of hope, but here we are — the iconic rapper just released a new diss track called “The Storm”, which is a direct attack on Trump and the racism, sexism, and war-mongering he’s caused.
In the freestyle, Eminem mentions Colin Kaepernick, the NFL protests, Trump’s threats of nuclear war, the wall, and the disastrous 2016 election. He also pointed out the incredible hypocrisy of Trump’s loud support of veterans during the NFL protests despite his blatant disrespect toward John McCain for being a POW.
Now if you’re a black athlete, you’re a spoiled little brat for
Tryina use your platform or your stature
To try to give those a voice who don’t have one
He says, ‘You’re spittin’ in the face of vets who fought for us, you bastards!’
Unless you’re a POW who’s tortured and battered
‘Cause to him you’re zeros
‘Cause he don’t like his war heroes captured
That’s not disrespecting the military
I C O N I C, honestly.
Unsurprisingly, the rapper also mentioned Charlottesville and Trump’s hesitation to denounce white supremacy — and, you know, the fact that Trump’s ENTIRE CAMPAIGN basically benefited from it.
But perhaps the most controversial part of the rap is when Eminem tells his fans that they can’t support both him and Trump — they have to choose, or Eminem will choose for them.
And any fan of mine who’s a supporter of hisI’m drawing in the sand a line: you’re either for or againstAnd if you can’t decide who you like more and you’re splitOn who you should stand beside, I’ll do it for you with this:F**k you!
Eminem isn’t fucking around anymore. He’s pissed, and you know what? Who can blame him. I’m pissed. We’re tired of living in a country that’s stuck in a standstill, where all our criticism means nothing because absolutely nothing is changing.
While the rap is likely to make tons of people angry, hopefully it’ll make parts of the rapper’s loyal fanbase really think about what’s going on in the world and choose their alliance.
He ended his rap with these words of wisdom:
