Ben Carson Got Stuck In An Elevator And The Twitter Jokes Are Fire

I don’t know what the hell is wrong with April 2017, but at this point anything could happen and I’d just shrug and say, “Meh, OK.”

Like this morning, when I woke up and saw what was trending on Twitter.

#NationalGrilledCheeseDay? Yum. #TrumpandthePress? Honestly, we don’t even need a hashtag for that at this point. Ben Carson? Well, he’s a public figure, so whatevs.

And then I took a closer look.

Um, what?

Apparently Carson, who is the Housing and Urban Development Secretary (in case you need reminding), was touring an affordable housing complex in Miami when he got stuck in the elevator, leaving NBA star Alonzo Mourning waiting outside for him.

Of course, leave it to Twitter to make the most out of any situation.

It all seems kind of fitting, doesn’t it?

Of course, not everyone appreciated the jokes. Some people stood up for Carson, saying he was trending for all the wrong reasons.

One can’t help but wonder how they’re going to try to spin this one.

Don’t worry though, guys. As great as it is to make fun of it, he did get out eventually.

But lol, just one more joke.

OK now, let’s just be honest: at least he’s trending for getting stuck in an elevator and not for saying something about slavery (or, you know, Hitler — looking at you, Spicy) this time around. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
